The Never-Trumpers treat the Democratic party a lot better than Piker does.

Our commitment to equity can't be contingent on rosey financial outlooks. Yes, we must tighten our belt and continue growing our economy. Yes. But today’s budget briefing hinted at another lopsided budget that will deepen inequities across DC.

This is why I’m not supporting ideas I would otherwise be open to—we need a relentless focus on growing our economy, not new taxes, programs, and regulations.

NEWS: Today @MayorBowser unveils her proposed 2027 budget. It's $12.7 billion, a 3.3% decrease from last year. As expected, there are cuts to a key child care fund, as well as a paid leave program, and affordable housing. Healthcare for low-income residents is spared, though.

Let’s clear the air on THAT picture….

The impact of new rules re: streateries. The Green Zone has trimmed staff, while about ten parked cars occupy the strip that held streateries for restaurants and bars like Air, Andy’s Pizza, The Diner, Madam’s Organ and Tryst. 51st.news/dc-streateries…

Like my primary opponent, I participate in DC’s Fair Elections program, which limits donations at 200 dollars and forbids the use of donations from corporate or traditional PACs. I chose to participate in the Fair Elections program as a reflection of my values and my belief that no individual or organization should have undue influence over my policy decisions or campaign promises. As with my primary opponent, I do not have control over which members of the community choose to contribute to my campaign, or their individual ideologies. As Mayor, the only person who will be charge of me is you: all 700,000 residents of the District of Columbia. I look forward to continuing to participate in the Fair Elections Program and working to fight and deliver for ALL of DC.
