@CameronCorduroy @IDoTheThinking Democratic leaders are coming out staunchly against Trump’s attack on Iran, then?
English

the crowning achievement of Obama's foreign policy was negotiating a deal that kept Iran from developing nuclear weapons without striking their facilities
you are hallucinating a fictional reality

Richard D Rembert | AI Engineer & SEO Specialist@RichardDRembert
Y’all do realize whoever was President was going to do this same thing, right? lol
English

@YawBoaduBenjam2 @IDoTheThinking Okay, but Clinton and LBJ still did those things because that was THEIR policy decision!
Biden’s refusal to negotiate with Iran was because he didn’t want to! He and Trump are aligned on this issue. That’s my whole point.
English

@Traval @IDoTheThinking Jcpoa was signed July 2015 and Trump ripped it in May 2018. Almost 3 years. My point is that ANY admin hopes for continuity but they may not get it. There are many examples. Clinton signs Kyoto Protocol, Bush refused to ratify. LBJ escalated Vietnam, Nixon withdrew troops, etc.
English

@SafetyinNumbrz @YawBoaduBenjam2 @IDoTheThinking Not what I’m doing. My POV is that democratic establishment is aligned with Trumps Iran policy. How many Dem leaders are speaking out against it right now? Schumer, Jeffries, Biden, Obama, Pelosi? Crickets.
English

@YawBoaduBenjam2 @IDoTheThinking Okay it was a little over two years between implementation and US withdrawal. Your argument is that Democratic foreign policy must be held hostage based on what hypothetical future presidents will decide? Why did Biden bother doing anything? Trump has reversed so much of it.
English

@Traval @IDoTheThinking There are many bad comparisons:
1) The ACA is domestic legislation passed by congress, the JCPOA can be unilaterally undone by the POTUS
2) The JCPOA had 3 years before Trump ripped it up. Having longevity does nothing. A republican can still unilaterally rip it after Biden.
English

@YawBoaduBenjam2 @IDoTheThinking If Biden had reentered the JCPOA immediately, it would have been in place now for four years and have had demonstrated its effectiveness. Harder to rip up at that point (like ACA). Only implemented for 1 yr before Trump 1.0 inaugurated.
English

@Traval @IDoTheThinking They didn't care because if Biden lost and a republican won, the republican would rip the deal up.
In Iran's perspective, US is too schizophrenic to do a deal with.
English

@TELOtrucks Doesn’t this type of advertising contradict the pedestrian safety benefits of this vehicle that you tout?
There’s really no need to accelerate that fast, especially in an urban environment that Telo is optimizing for.
English

@taaltree I think 9/11 and Islamophobia were big factors too.
It was an illegal invasion based on lies that received popular support. I just don’t give the American public that much credit. Already 26% support annexing Greenland and there’s hardly been a propaganda effort yet.
English
@Traval This required convincing Americans that they were the good guys because Saddam Hussein was a dictator who had invaded Kuwait, was brutally repressive, and now had weapons of mass destruction (the latter being false). No such argument is tenable with Denmark or Canada.
English
Americans really want to be the good guys. It’s deeply ingrained in our identity. I don’t think any amount of propaganda will make taking over Greenland or making Canada the 51st state popular the way that Russia was able to sell the Ukraine invasion
(((Harry Enten)))@ForecasterEnten
Just 6% of Greenlanders want to join the United States. There are more people who think we faked the moon landing (~10%). 85% of Greenlanders are opposed. Meanwhile, less than 30% of Americans want Greenland to join the U.S. I've rarely seen anything so unpopular.

@ajlamesa @musharbash_b Choosing the east side of the valley rather than the west is far from the primary reason the project is so far behind.
Connecting 4 growing metro areas that are perfectly lined up just slightly off from the SF-LA axis isn’t particularly insane.
English

Incredible map of the California high-speed rail "system" from Nate Silver.
It's totally insane that the priority wasn't connecting Los Angeles and San Francisco.
And, honestly, overseeing this boondoggle is probably disqualifying for Newsom's presidential aspirations.

America probably can’t have abundance. But we deserve a better government. natesilver.net/p/america-prob…

@KarthikForTexas @EliseJoshi Indiscriminate bombing campaigns that kill 100,000s of civilians are in fact Bad.

So you think South Koreans should have just been conquered by North Korea and lived under autocracy and be like 5 inches shorter?
Maybe you should try actually focusing on persuasion instead of living in your Bay Area bubble?
Btw 80 million folks are about to lose Medicaid but you haven’t even tweeted about it!
English

There is nothing honorable about the murder, rape, and pillaging of millions of people in Vietnam and Korea. Red scare propaganda is alive and well.
Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett@RepJasmine
We will not normalize…

@RideSacRT So all that time and money for the design and construction and we just went from 2 trains per hour to 3? Hope this is temporary cause this is definitely not what the project promised.
English

🚆Folsom Riders: Gold Line Weekday Schedule Update!
To improve service reliability, SacRT is making a slight adjustment to the weekday schedule for Gold Line trains serving Folsom-area stations.
🚫 Inbound train trips departing Historic Folsom on the :44 of each hour will no longer operate.
🛑 Outbound train trips arriving Sunrise on the :20 of each hour will now turn back instead of continuing to Folsom.
✅ When traveling toward Sunrise/Folsom, check the train head sign before boarding: "Historic Folsom" continues; "Sunrise" turns back.
Plan ahead and view the updated schedule at sacrt.com/Folsom15.

@Eli_B_Cook But also subsidizes transit improvements and improves emergency response times.

Unless they go Finland speeding ticket route, that is know the annual income of every driver and adjust their cost accordingly, I will always think that congestion pricing is mostly just a way to clear traffic for the rich
sam@sam_d_1995
this is INCREDIBLE, congestion pricing is already working wonders traffic at 1:30PM on the average Sunday vs today Holland Tunnel: 27 mins ➡️ 9 mins Lincoln Tunnel: 10 mins ➡️ 3 mins Williamsburg Bridge: 11 mins ➡️ 6 mins

@IDoTheThinking Would be nice if they abandoned norms and decorum to push legislation through (e.g. overrule parliamentarian, ditch filibuster) rather than familial self dealing.
English

@IDoTheThinking Given Russia is likely to hold on to a substantial amount of Ukr territory, an appeasement route with a similar territorial outcome but 100,000s of fewer casualties is preferable
English

@SamRice916 I took the train from Sac to Davis Friday night just for the hell of it. So pleasant, downtown to downtown.
But at $9 one way and sub hourly frequencies, it’s not close to a viable regional rail service. Electrify and expand service!
English

@pkedrosky Rather than fully rerouting the river, they should have constructed a bypass to handle excess flows (as was done in the Sacramento Valley a century ago). Wonder why they didn’t opt for that.
