I’m in Neskantaga First Nation, home of Canada’s longest water boil advisory going on past 30 years. A 24 pack of bottled water is $37.99 plus tax. Community members get water flown in by the federal government but it’s rationed. So if they run out, the local Northern Store is the only place to get clean drinking water. INSANE

It must be a strange, dystopian time in Calgary, like someone has turned the city into a giant rez. Of course, if you’ve never been to a First Nation, you wouldn’t know what it is like to live without clean water – heck, any water – coming out of your taps theglobeandmail.com/opinion/articl…

Hoʻi Ka Wai: The Waters Return Quite a legacy set by our pilot 9th grade Halau Hekili students. Building upon the hana over the weekend at Nation of Hawaii uncovering 10 loʻi kalo rock wall terraces, we returned the flow of water today converting this dryland back into a wetland

Today the federal and provincial governments announced a $5B investment for an auto plant to build EV’s. I asked the government whether they have the free prior and informed consent of all the First Nations where those minerals are located.

Securing the water rights that Tribes have long been owed is key to planning for their abundant future in the face of climate change and water scarcity. Today, I was honored to celebrate a historic water rights agreement with the Colorado River Indian Tribes in Arizona.

Water is life, yet for too long, Tribes have fought for equitable access to clean, reliable drinking water. Through a new Memorandum of Understanding, @usbr and @IHSgov will fortify our efforts to bring water resources to Tribes across our country. doi.gov/pressreleases/…

Although Kānaka Maoli have consistently & unambiguously voiced opposition to building TMT at Mauna Kea—a sacred mountain to the Indigenous people of Hawaiʻi—we all must continue to voice opposition. Tell the @NSF board that it SHOULD NOT fund @TMTHawaii! bit.ly/NSFdontfundTMT
