Yeah, bro, this is so affordable for everyone. Just buy one of my Teslas and stop worrying about the gas prices. Anyway, soon enough you’ll be on permanent vacation when your job is taken by one of my robots—then you can sit at home more and watch me post anime porn to the timeline while I build death rays for the Golden Dome. If you’re lonely, we have a robot for that too. Super affordable. And soon enough she will be equipped with an artificial womb. Enjoy the Tesla! It dances too.
You don't hate capitalism, you hate corporatism.
You look at bailouts, subsidies, and firms that get rich through political access instead of honest competition, and you are right to feel disgusted.
Capitalism lives or dies by voluntary exchange, by serving people well enough that they choose you over someone else.
Corporatism works by fusing business with the state so failure gets cushioned, rivals get fenced out, and consumers get trapped.
In one arrangement, profit follows value. In the other, profit follows influence.
@FreeTalkLive Both are capitalism, just different stages of development. Corporatism is also a bit different than what is being described here, which is more like an oligarchy or plutocracy.
@FreeTalkLive No. The problem is that companies are profit-driven. They seek to maximize profits by any means possible which is usually detrimental to society and human well-being. I don't get why this is such a hard concept to understand for some people.
I’m very confused about the number of people who think “property tax” is a sales tax on you home rather than taxes to pay for public services you use every day.
“I paid off my home why do i still pay property taxes?!?!?”
Oh, did you also stop using the roads and libraries and sidewalks and parks? Not worried about fires anymore?
@moorela66180327@Ski_Rich_Burl On what grounds? If you have 100 acres no you pay more. Unless you are a farm, which gets a reduction. However why do horse properties get a discount? Multimillion dollar properties pay less than a 3b/3b on an acre. “Conservation” of equestrian. F that farmers sure horses no
@moorela66180327 Its a tax to support your local city and/or county services
- Police, fire, schools, etc
You still would need those services after you paid off your house
I’m not a “work from home” guy by any means. But I’ve done it a bit lately and it’s certainly nice to see my family during the day. I can see why it’s so popular.
But, and it’s a big but, my productivity is unquestionably lower. There’s just no substitute for the office.
