June is Pride Month! During this month, we reaffirm our commitment to building safe, inclusive, welcoming learning environments. For Pride Month, we have compiled resources for staff in our topic guide, including books, kits and online resources to borrow through the LRC. @HCDSB

National AccessAbility Week is May 26th to June 1st! On Wed May 29st staff and students at @HCDSB will be wearing red shirts to show our commitment to be a more accessible and inclusive school board. Visit your school library for resources and check out our topic guide.

May 17th is International Day against Homophobia, Transphobia & Biphobia. On this day & every day, we are committed to nurturing 𝘀𝗮𝗳𝗲, 𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 & 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 schools so that the 2SLGBTQ+ members in our community feel a positive sense of belonging & wellbeing.

We as a Council are united in our support to end domestic violence. This new Purple Bench initiated by Halton Women’s Place, at the west lawn lookout point in Spencer Smith Park, is a physical reminder and show of solidarity and support from our #BurlON community to all those who experience domestic violence of all kinds. This week across Halton with @haltonpolice & all Halton Mayors, we unveiled purple benches in recognition of Woman Abuse Prevention Month. These benches, part of the Barb's Benches Project, sends a message of solidarity to those facing abuse.
