My only consolation is that hopefully my kids won’t remember the day to day of this phase. It’s not going well over here

@iam_preethi It takes about two days of screen free time for my son to be able to regulate himself again lol. It’s crazy seeing the difference once he comes home from his grandparent’s house.

It takes about a week to detox my kids after an extended stay at my parents house. They get spoiled with screen time there and I stopped fighting it. But the behavior change when we come home is impossible to ignore. My son becomes whiny and anxious. My daughter throws way more tantrums. I am not anti-screens. We let them watch a couple of shows at home. But there is a clear line, and beyond it, screens stop being entertainment and start dysregulating their nervous systems.

Ladies, you need to work out and make sure you have a healthy HIIT routine regiment on the off-chance that you end up a boy mom. Ignore this advice at your own peril.

@Romy_Holland Stopping exclusively pumping at 8 months was a wonderful decision. Seriously felt like i had my life back. At the end i was power pumping twice a day to get my supply to hit 28-30 oz a day. When i quit i wondered why i didnt do it sooner (obviously its great i didnt).

weaning is causing incredible dissonance between my lizard brain and frontal lobe. my frontal lobe is entirely sold on weaning. it looks like breastfeeding benefits are front loaded and there’s little to no benefit past 6 months. i’ve been exclusively pumping for months and i want to stop. i’m eager to experience my baseline hormone state for awhile before getting pregnant again. but my lizard brain is like “more milk, make more milk, must feed baby.” every time i pump and get a smaller yield than the day before i am simultaneously happy and mildly panicked.

@KassyAkiva Yea this is real, i started at 8 months and my baby never pooped in a diaper again. Fully trained at 18 months, but he was ready before i was ngl. Early and often potty training is the way to go!

I trained my 6 month old how to poop on the toilet. She’s done it every day this week. This may be one of my biggest accomplishments yet.

@iam_preethi I bought some! But forgot to add the discount code 🤦‍♀️ been nervous about supplements ever since running my gelatin powder in an icp spec. They had some of the heavy metals listed as ‘other heavy metals’ on their certificate of analysis. Lol

I took creatine during pregnancy and postpartum. Here's what it's done for my postpartum recovery: I'm 6 weeks postpartum with my third baby. Sleeping in 2 hour chunks. By all accounts I should be a zombie. But I'm not. I'm dancing, lifting, working, and present with my kids. The difference this time = Creatine. Most people don't understand how energy demanding motherhood actually is. During pregnancy, you're building an entire human from scratch. Your body is running a construction site 24/7. During postpartum, you're recovering from birth, producing milk around the clock, and running on very little sleep. And then there's the mental load of raising children. You're making constant decisions all day long. You need patience when your toddler asks "why" for the 47th time. You have to regulate your own emotions when your kid is melting down and you want to melt down too. All of this requires energy. Specifically, your brain requires energy. Your brain is only 2% of your body weight but uses 20% of your energy. When you're sleep deprived and stressed, your brain burns through its energy stores fast. That's why you get mom brain. You feel foggy and can't think straight. You forget things constantly. You snap at your kids over small things. Creatine helps your brain produce ATP (energy) more efficiently. Studies on sleep deprived people show better focus, memory, and cognitive performance. And women store 70-80% less creatine than men. We need it more and most of us aren't taking it. I believe in this so much that creatine is the first product we're launching at Ferta. Creatine for Her is now open for pre-order! German-sourced, micro-ionized, no bloating. Link below.

@Trixmegistus @iam_preethi You should check out Nourishing Traditions book for an idea of what your intake should be like during pregnancy. Tracking will add to your stress IMO, keep it simple and stick to foods that have a high nutrition density. Whole eggs are the best.

"Daily caloric intakes were assessed by 24-hour recall in 13 healthy women while breastfeeding between 4 and 38 weeks postpartum and in the subsequent nonlactating state. 9 mothers were lactating adequately; i.e., no complementary feeds were given. 4 mothers had an inadequate milk supply, as complementary bottles had to be given at 2 or more feeds/day. All the babies were healthy. The weight of 1 baby fell between the 3rd and 10th percentile, 4 between the 10th and 25th, 7 between the 25th-75th, and 1 between the 75th-90th. The younger babies, under 4 months, were receiving little or no solid food, and the major part of the older babies' fluid intake was breastmilk. Results shown tabularly indicate that caloric intakes of the 9 successfully breastfeeding mothers was considerably higher than that of the 4 mothers who were unsuccessful. This was particularly striking in the mothers who were not losing weight. The intake of the unsuccessful mothers was only little more than in the nonlactating state, whereas the successful mothers were eating up to 50% more than normal. 1 unsuccessful mother, consuming 1950 kcal increased her intake to 3910 kcal/day. Her milk supply increased quickly and complementary feeds were no longer necessary. Furthermore, 3 successful mothers who tried to diet to lose weight more rapidly found an immediate reduction in milk supply with subsequent irritability and failure of their babies to gain weight. On reverting to demand feeding, the babies became satisfied and resumed their normal weight gain patterns. None of the mothers were aware of the extra caloric requirements of the body during nursing although the Department of Health and Social Security and the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization recommend increases of 500 and 1000 kcal/day. The present findings are in agreement with those of Thomson, Hytten, and Billewicz who found that successfully lactating women, most of whom are losing weight, had an average daily intake of 690 kcal/day nore than bottlefeeding mothers. Insufficient milk is a commonly reported cause for breastfeeding failure and the usual clinic advice to mothers to drink more fluid to increase their supply has been ineffective. Since the present preliminary results indicate that the calorie content of a mother's diet may be critical in her ability to produce an adequate milk supply, mothers should be informed of their extra caloric requirements, and advised to eat more if in doubt about their milk supply."
