The DOWs have left the building! @PERiLS_Project has come to a close. We had a great experience working with so many students, collecting data in QLCSs. Now the data QC and analysis begins! But 1st…BEST! We will be headed to the plains to study low-level winds in tornadoes!

Yesterday got me thinking, "what's some of the tallest storms GPM-DPR has observed?". Here is a monster sampled on 09 April 2016 on the border of Argentina and Paraguay. Clear overshooting top captured by GPM-DPR (fig1) and maybe if you squint you can see a hook echo shape (fig2)

WRF users: Has anyone had success introducing an idealized TC (generated from em_tropical_cyclone) into a real WRF simulation?
Using the Bogus TC option in the namelist could be an alternative, but I thought that TC might be more unrealistic...

@afadames This is an interesting observation. I've noticed the exact opposite trend for tornado research, but haven't thought about it in regards to tropical meteorology.
I have found that not many tropical positions are solicited in the U.S., so not sure if that could be a factor...
