@Suzierizzo1 Yep…I used to buy gas for a quarter a gallon back in the 1960s. Of course, I was making $3,600 a year. Hmmm… $3,600 x 30 =$108,000.00 $0.26 x 30=$7.80…so $6 gas is a bargain!

Who remembers when gas was .26 cents per gallon in 1972? Look now mind it’s over $6 dollars a gallon of regular where I live.

@Suzierizzo1 I was in the Navy then and just came back from SEAsia. I drove down the state from Sacto to SDiego for a little over $4.00 each way. Of course I had a brand new, little OPEL GT I bought when I got home.

@redpillb0t Wrong. Try 3 jobs, 5am to 9 pm. My mom would keep us kids up at night till dad got home so he could see his kids.

@RetroCoast Is there something wrong with giving people choice. Maybe we should only be offered a box of powered milk.

In the #1970s we only had a few items to choose from at the grocery store, but that was fine. You don't need 200 brands of milk.

In 1980 a 22-year-old could work summer jobs, save $15k, buy a house with a $40k mortgage and have it paid off by 35. In 2026 a 22-year-old needs to save for 15+ years just for a down payment on a $400k house. Different rules. One generation pulled the ladder up

@tokyo_111 I raised a family of 5 in a 1200 sq foot home with one bathroom most today would not even consider that as an option. We don't all need to start out with a $400,000 home. It is hard out there but it has always been hard, please stop these sad sack stories.
