Catholic X really needs to stop tearing into each other. we are all Brothers and Sisters united under Christ. The SSPX excommunications is not helping us and I wish it didn't happen. However we are allowed to have our stong opinions on such things, but it's what we do with it that can become the problem. So lets pray, lets fast for the good of our Church and lets treat each other more charitably - this is a spiritual war in the end. May God Bless you all.

You can have an opinion about the clergy in our Catholic Hierarchy, its what you do with it that matters. For what its worth i believe it was St Catherine of Siena who wrote to the Pope and asked "get up like a man for I tell you that you have no need to fear" this was in relation to restoring the Papacy back to Rome"

@BreeSolstad @lukei4655 I'd never stoop so low as to question that your conversion is genuine...but it's certainly not complete, how could it be 2 years into being Catholic?? I would council you again to leave this space and practice humbly submitting yourself to the Catholic hierarchy.

If Jesus Christ—who speaks of Hell more than anyone in the Bible—thought it was very important to preach on Hell then His ordained priests should preach on it also. There are many other good reasons, but this one seems more than sufficient. This shouldn’t be complicated. 🤷‍♀️
Fr. Gabriel T Mosher, OP@lukei4655

I never preach on hell. I don’t understand why anyone would. Maybe a reason exists? Certainly hell is a real consequence. However, I think it’s better pedagogy to point people toward the good. Preaching is, after all, ordered primarily to the movement of the will to the good.

@Faithful2Pray Why would you think that? I always see your prayful posts. They serve as my reminder to pray. You can never know the seed of what one of your posts may lay to a poor soul searching. Your posts are never wasted, God bless friend. I'll include you in my own prayers.

Hi Everyone. My account here on X is struggling a bit. I’m not going to ‘blame the algorithm’. What I’d like to know: Does what I post make a difference? Is there anything else I can do for you or types of posts you’d like to see? Or is it time I just let my account go?🤔

..and St Catherine of Sienna a lowly medieval woman with no education openly held Popes and clergy directly to account. She lived in a very tumultuous period and didnt mince words(i.e western Schism). The Church did not excommunicate her. I fear in todays Church she may indeed have been excommunicated.

"Even if the Pope were Satan incarnate, we ought not to raise our heads against him, but calmly lie down to rest on his bosom." - St. Catherine of Siena I'd never raise my head against the Pope. I refuse to join the bandwagon to do it. I honour the Pope because he is Christ's Vicar. Honouring the Pope is honouring God who sent him.

@BreeSolstad It seems Catholics today worship whatever pope sits on the chair at this present moment. This is what the modernist Church has become apparently. No regard for any pope prior to John XXIII

I love the pope. The Catechism teaches that Catholics owe genuine obedience and religious submission to the pope in the proper exercise of his authority, but obedience is never absolute or blind. No human authority may command us to violate divine law, the moral order, or the Catholic faith. We must obey God rather than men. This is not an SSPX post. It’s a post noticing a trend among some who appear to hold an implicit/subconscious belief that the pope is divine.

Agree Bree. Many of us can see stark double standards at play here with the whole synodality thing and clergy who have behaved contrary to the faith and given leniency. Its truely dissapointing what has happened to the SSPX and I wish it didnt happen. As laity we can have our own opinion on such things - but its what we do with it and our decision afterwards that matters. Thus we are called to respect and pray for the Holy Father (as he holds the Petrine office) and the Church, we need to pray for ourselves and one another so that we may better understand our Lords plans for us and His Church. God is always in control. No doubt many faithful would be scandalised by this, but we must pray, fast and remain steadfast.

Two Byzantine Catholic priests, speaking independently in recent podcasts, identified the same sickness in the Roman Church: too many Catholics treat the parish as a place to obtain the Eucharist and then leave. “Is it valid?” has become the only question, as though right worship, sacred beauty, sound teaching, tradition, reverence, and a real parish community were optional extras. But the Church is not a sacramental filling station, and the Eucharist is not a commodity dispensed to isolated consumers. We are not saved as detached individuals who happen to receive the same valid Sacrament. We are incorporated into the Body of Christ: formed by her worship, bound to a community, and called into a shared life of repentance, prayer, sacrifice, and communion. The Eucharist is the source and summit of the Christian life, not an excuse to stop caring about everything that should flow from it.

@TaylorRMarshall Are you trying to foment disunity? I met Bishop Williamson and was surprised by how meek and humble he was in private. He was very generous with his time and extraordinarily deep and devout in his spiritual direction. Most SSPX supporters love him because he had a big heart.

After Bishop Richard Williamson was expelled from the SSPX in 2012, he consecrated more bishops: Jean-Michel Faure, Tomás de Aquino Ferreira da Costa, and Gerardo Zendejas. For these acts, Bp Williamson was again automatically excommunicated from the Catholic Church. Does the current SSPX consider these “Williamson bishops” as true orthodox Catholic bishops and are they “in communion” with them as “true Catholic bishops”? Why or why not? What stops a future SSPX bishop from breaking off like Bp Williamson and creating new cohorts of “emergency auxiliary” bishops?
