The Mexican Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA) has released their first statement since today’s operation which resulted in the successful elimination of CJNG Cartel leader Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, also known as El Mencho, and the widespread violence that has followed in several states across Mexico. SEDENA provides additional detail about the operation which killed El Mencho: “DEFENSA informs the public that, through central military intelligence efforts, from the National Intelligence Center and the Attorney General's Office (FEMDO), Special Forces of the Mexican Army planned and executed an operation in Tapalpa, Jal., in which various aircraft from the Air Force and the National Guard's Immediate Reaction Special Force intervened to achieve the detention of Ruben “N” (a) Mencho. During this operation, military personnel were attacked, so in defense of their integrity they repelled the aggression, resulting in four members of the “CJNG” criminal group dead at the scene and three seriously injured, who lost their lives during their transfer via air to Mexico City; among the latter is Ruben “N” (a) Mencho, however, the corresponding authorities will handle the expert activities for their identification. In addition to the above, two other members of this criminal organization were detained and various weaponry and armored vehicles were seized, including rocket launchers capable of downing aircraft and destroying armored vehicles. Unfortunately during this military action, three members of the institution were injured, who were likewise transferred to healthcare facilities in Mexico City for their urgent medical attention. It should be noted that, for the execution of this operation, in addition to the central military intelligence efforts, within the framework of bilateral coordination and cooperation with the USA, complementary information was provided by authorities from that country. At this time, elements of the National Guard and troops from the Army in central Mexico and states adjacent to Jalisco are concentrating to reinforce the security of this federal entity. With these actions, the Secretariat of National Defense reaffirms its commitment to contribute to the strengthening of Mexico's security. New images in the search for Nancy Guthrie:   Over the last eight days, the FBI and Pima County Sheriff’s Department have been working closely with our private sector partners to continue to recover any images or video footage from Nancy Guthrie’s home that may have been lost, corrupted, or inaccessible due to a variety of factors - including the removal of recording devices. Vessel was not going to enter US waters. Drug load (cocaine) was eventually headed to the US via Mexico land border. Coast Guard routinely interdicts vessels transporting drugs in INTERNATIONAL waters. That could have been done here. Choice was made to exercise the authorities that come along with FTO designation.

Why didn’t we just track and interdict the vessel in US waters, arrest the crew and seize the drugs, as the US Coast Guard routinely does?

Last night, the Russian army struck the center of Dobropillya in the Donetsk region with two ballistic missiles. After our emergency services arrived at the scene, they launched another strike, deliberately targeting the rescuers. This is a vile and inhumane intimidation tactic often used by the Russians. Tragically, at this moment, 11 people are confirmed dead. My condolences to their families and loved ones. More than 30 people were injured, including 5 children. Eight five-story apartment buildings, an administrative facility, and a fire truck were damaged. I thank all the emergency services, police, SES personnel, and medics who, despite the threat of repeated strikes, remain undaunted and are saving people from this terror. To everyone who defends lives while risking their own. Such strikes show that Russia's objectives have not changed. @RealKidPoker Your analysis is spot on. Not that dissimilar to your world. Sometimes you have to minimize loss and forget about the win.

My Ukraine take that nobody asked for because, “stick to poker” Putin is a bad guy. Zelensky is a brave dude who hates Putin and wants to defend his country. I spoke to friends in Ukraine who said in the first year they had hope they could win this war, but at this point, they just want the war to stop. So, how does this war end? Can Russia win? Maybe. Can Ukraine win? I don’t think so. Continuing this war leads to more resources exhausted, most importantly the lives of soldiers, many poor ones from rural areas being forced into war and death. Found on the streets walking their dog, thrown into a van, and into battle against their will. At this point, to win this war on the battlefield requires starting WWIII, and the only other option that might work is to end it in the boardroom over a negotiating table where both sides have to make some concessions. Without some concessions, the war doesn’t end. What is Zelensky’s proposal to end this war? More weapons? More money? More soldiers? Is that the plan? If so, I don’t see how it ends war, it just prolongs it. The US can play a role in ending it at the negotiating table, but I don’t see how more weapons aid solves anything. Ukraine faces two scenarios that are both -EV 1) Continue to fight and lose lives in an unwinnable war. 2) Make concessions to the monster that you hate that attacked your country. Both choices suck, but sometimes you have to choose between the best of two bad options. *** If you are angry at me for this take, I just ask you to ask yourself why? I want to see an end to war, and in my opinion, a deal of some kind is the only way. I am no expert, but based on the information I’ve gathered from listening to some experts, this is how I see it.
