I think your biggest problem is that you only consider the probability of rises and falls, but not the magnitude of those rises and falls. For example, if there's a 74.2% probability of a fall today, but a 1% drop is still considered a fall, conversely, if there's a 25.8% probability of a rise, but a 10% rise is possible, then is shorting more advantageous or going long more advantageous? That's the question.
