Dear Gen. @mkainerugaba, Found the message below in my 📦 on WhatsApp. Kindly receive it. ------------ Adam, I have been rotating in the nephrology ward at Mulago National Referral Hospital, and what I have witnessed is deeply troubling. The entire ward is filled with patients suffering from chronic kidney disease, yet only a handful can access kidney transplants. Even access to hemodialysis is extremely limited, and most patients simply cannot afford it. In many cases, all we can do is offer counseling, prepare them for the worst, and manage symptoms as their condition deteriorates. It is heartbreaking to watch people die not because treatment doesn’t exist, but because it is out of reach. Given your ability to access the decision makers in the country including those in the General MK circles, I wanted to ask whether it’s possible to initiate something like an MK Kidney Foundation. Such an initiative could go a long way in supporting dialysis services and giving these patients a real chance at life.
