Quite the busy week! Place is slowly starting to look like a golf course again, we’ve got our winter scars but they are slowly healing! Green grass & blue skies are good for the soul.

@MikeCocking gives us the cliff notes of Huntingdale’s architectural history following @OCMGolf’s overhaul of C.H. Alison’s lone Australian contribution.

Time on site during construction is the most important part of our role as architects. Walking the land, weighing possibilities, deciding the best way forward. Sketching in the field is part of that process. Sometimes it's a simple line drawing. Other times, more elaborate.

Not very evenly split in my opinion…it’s a 1 v 3 fight…

Greens recovery is on going after last week’s aeration & Monday’s DryJect…starting to see green up in most areas of shortgrass w/exception of the typical slow North facing shadier locations…my patience is thin but extremely crucial at this stage in the game. Ugly season!

Busy Monday of DryJect followed by a v-cut, some hand weed removal, mulch, and some chemical poa control. Team did a magnificent job getting all 22 completed in about 5hrs!

MILD WEATHER INTO EARLY MARCH: Long range guidance from CPC suggests temperatures across the Deep South will be very mild through March 10. The attached meteogram is valid for Birmingham. But, long time readers know every year I tell you to wait until April 15 to plant anything that might be harmed by a freeze. We almost always have sharp cold snaps in late March and early April. But, enjoy the coming warmth!

@arvidgolf We got more aggressive w/this aeration so that during our summer aeration we can skip greens or do very minimal work to them so they maintain more firmness heading into fall…based on our data recovery was significantly faster with spring aeration v. July work!

@arvidgolf Yes…a green that gets neglected in the off season & then decides to puke out in the summer…minor inconvenience for in season greatness!

This is actual brotherhood. NHL star Johnny Gaudreau was killed by a drunk driver before he could play for this Olympic team. When Team USA won gold yesterday, they didn’t just hold his jersey. They pulled his two babies onto the ice and put them right in the center of the world's biggest stage. A completely heart-wrenching moment

Despite the late start all greens have been deep tined and core aerated along with clean up…half of the greens have been top dressed and brushed…great Monday performance by the team @benjamincoliver @ponder_eplay

Not ideal conditions but could always be worse…spring aeration has started, deep tine followed by 648s and a clean up team, topdress and brush to follow in PM, so far nothing is frozen with exception to a couple heavily shaded grns, will hold off on those for now.

Aeration testing day as we are one week out from our “spring” greens aeration: deep tine, core, sand, brush, and amend with @earthworksturf 3-3-3 & 1-0-1! Making sure we are setup for success next week. Rye grass fed, impromptu tree clean up, mulch & more today!
