When I was a boy (I think perhaps nine or ten) there was an audience participation show on TV, and a guest (I think possibly David Starkey) who was making the point that English people have a particular heritage. At one point the host hands the mic to a young Indian-looking girl who challenges the guest and says "So am I not English then even though I was born here?". The guest stuck to his guns and told her that she was not, at which point she began crying. At the time, my mother expressed genuine (not sarcastic) sympathy for the girl, and said aloud something like "Aw, he's made her cry now...". There was no subsequent family discussion about this (sadly my parents were not of the sort to entertain such things), but it did apparently create a lasting memory in me. I believe that I never truly resolved the conflict. I wanted to care about the little girl, but I knew that the man talking wasn't wrong, and this mattered too. All these years later, I see that the solution is to stop lying to children about their identity. That girl had been encouraged not only to think of herself as English, but also to take pride in - and identify with - some of the excellent things that our culture had produced. For her at that point, in that audience, it felt as though something was being taken away, when it fact it was never hers to possess. If my parents had gone abroad and given birth to me in Japan, I'm sure that the responsible thing would be to make me aware that I was an English child being brought up in Japan. Any deep pride I felt in my people would be in the achievements of the British, however much I may also respect and even admire the culture and people of Japan. I think this may be worth tweeting about, because the thing being leveraged there on that TV show was not a desire to destroy the English, or a leftist/Communist sales pitch, or even a black oppression narrative. No; it was simply the tears of a crying girl. I now understand the girl was as much a victim in this as any of us. Probably a lot of White people were guilt-tripped into adopting an incorrect understanding of race-relations by such means, and this makes me think of something Jared Taylor often points out, which is that the people who oppose us are very often not "bad" people, but rather in many cases at least they are merely misguided. Guilt-tripping a nations out of their identity is one of the key strengths of the globalist media of course, and probably a lot of people saw that same TV show that day. I suppose, maybe, someone out there will read this and have their own conflict resolved after all these years, just as I have finally found myself able to do. If this gets you over that hump, then glad to be of service. 👍🏻🐸
