After pondering this literally for weeks, I have come to my own conclusion that Andy Beshear will probably do nothing about the absence of Mitch McConnell. Apparently Beshear doesn’t have the authority to appoint anyone for the senate seat, but can only facilitate a special election of which it would be a Republican. By leaving the seat empty, they’re losing a vote for Republicans, which is actually a good thing for Dems. I hope this makes sense because I needed it to make sense after all the rumors, lack of transparency, etc.
