@tdnightingale I do not mind at all sports going onto regular streaming services like Paramount, they seem to have more variety of stuff (movies/shows) and adding sports is more bang for your buck. Dazn really expensive, it's already a hard sell even with UEFA tournaments

I like how in 2015, 2021 and 2025, there was SOME external factor that the CPC could reasonably blame for losing (incumbent PM running for a fourth term, trucker convoy, trump threats), but 2019 was just cause scheer was... scheer 😭😭

Keep in mind leaderless parties can have high support in times where change is being demanded because voters impart their ideal leader onto the party.
There will be much work for the OLP to do, but there is a clear trend.

@TSNDaveNaylor Is the four extra games worth diminishing the importance of the 81 game regular season. Secondly playoff boosts happen because it's a climax for the season, if the season a glorified pre-season scrimmage you actually ruin the playoff experience

Here’s my take on the new CFL playoff format: Do I think the league is convinced that overall this is an improvement? No I’m not. But I’m not ignorant to the fact that going from 5 to 9 playoff games is a major financial boost at a time the league is negotiating new media deals. Everyone wants a healthy CFL. So if this is what it takes i’ll live it. Even if I don’t love it. #CFL

CFL announces the 2027 season will start May long weekend.
And they are adding four playoff games. They say the top-2 teams in each division will be guaranteed at least two playoff games.
And they will have "division-less" re-seeding for the playoffs.

The CFL and the PA are making a big announcement this afternoon. Is this where they finally reveal plans for an earlier start to the season? 2027 Grey Cup is scheduled for November 7 (vs. Nov. 15 for this season). And I wonder if there's playoff changes afoot.

A fairly shameless, and possibly ridiculous, money grab. Eight of nine teams make the playoffs, which has to be a pro sports record of some kind. Hope CFL players like playing a maximum of 22 regular-season and playoff games.

Worked there 10 years. Treated great. Terribly upsetting news to see this. It’s also, sad confirmation, on Day 365 since last spring’s Federal Election, of what a terrible economic year Canada has had. I seriously, SERIOUSLY had my doubts Carney could run a worse economy than Trudeau. It’s very close.
There’s a reason we went to an election so early. The false premise of getting a Trump deal & the baked-in reality of horrid economic policy - 11th year and counting.

They wanted to play at the warmest possible time of day, but I don’t disagree. I prefer evening games.

I’m going to vigorously defend Pierre here. As his former Comms Director I can confirm our approach was equal across the board from MSM to new media to influencers. Information is broadly disseminated and journos/content creators have the freedom to interpret it as they wish.
