🧵 A reminder that: The SC judgment wasn’t about whether trans people in general should be treated as the opposite sex under the Equality Act *It was already known that they should not* /1
Dr Mike Hill@DrMikeHill

@akuareindorf Are you saying it didn’t get reviewed and endorsed by the board of which you were a member? I, like others included businesses, charities and public sector organisations don’t think it was straight forward at all. Nor do they think the law is either clear or easy to implement.

This furry was at the GATE protest in Norwich against Girlguiding being for girls. Furries are not "harmless". They represent a real safeguarding red flag. The "fursona" setup lets adults (and children) create fake animal identities with made-up ages, blurring reality and enabling easy deception online. Boundaries are low as it's so child cartoony friendly. Furry spaces online are unsafe for children, flooded with yiff (pornographic material and sexual activity involving anthropomorphic animal characters), diaperfurs (sexual fetish involving infantilism & nappies - google it if you have a strong stomach), and hyper-sexual content. Surveys show most male furries use furry pornography. Predators exploit the cute animal personas to groom children who feel like outsiders. @SafeSchools_UK warn exactly about this—age play, stranger danger, and disengagement from real life through furry identities has no place in Girlguiding. @jan_murray @EDP24 @WomensRightsNet @norwich_s @Transgendertrd

@DreyfusJames What a load of waffle. Someone in drag is someone in drag. Just because you personally don’t like the latest drag (you literally don’t have to like every drag queen you know?!) There is no difference between a drag artist of today or one from the 60’s and 70s.

Danny La Rue was a female impersonator. Barry Humphries played Dame Edna as a comedy character. Les Dawson & Roy Barraclough played Cissie & Ada as comedic tributes to the women of their times. Kenny Everett played Cupid Stunt as an OTT American starlet character. Again not drag. Hinge & Bracket were old-school musical vaudevillians. Harris Milstead (Divine) was a character actor & part-time drag queen, whose act wanted to be taken seriously. Lily Savage (Paul O’Grady) was an old-school drag queen, whose act was based on the tough women he grew up with. Regina Fong (Reg Bundy) was another old-school vaudevillian, whose act was camp, very funny & inventive, relying on repetition of a routine that the audience would know & emulate. They’d join in. None of these performers exhibited a deep-rooted loathing for women, & yet are now tarred with the same brush as modern day “drag queens”. You CANNOT compare these artistes with the talentless, runway, slut-dropping, sashaying wannabes, that people refer to as “drag queens” today, many of whom lampoon & degrade women in deeply misogynistic ways. (See Ru Paul’s Drag Race). They are not the same thing. Style-wise, they have much more in common with the various Houses (LaBeija, ‘68, Corey, ‘72, Xtravaganza ‘82, Ninja, ‘82, Ebony ‘78) & the Tea Dances & later the Ballroom Dances of New York, where gay men would dress up & “throw shade”. Learn the difference.

Hi all, sorry for my absence. After months of steady progress, Mum got really sick unexpectedly and things have been very hard. No hospitalisation this time but that was only because we have an oxygen machine at home now and I could nurse her. The paramedics were out 3 times. It has been scary, sad, and absolutely exhausting. Physically, mentally, and emotionally. I just couldn't deal with all the horrors here. The very first story I saw today was about sexual abuse and I am crying already. Mum is improving but the infection is not yet cleared and all her progress has been undone. It is horribly unfairly on her, she had been doing so well, was excited for her rehab course and to be driving again, and a stupid error by the NHS caused this. Sorry again, and thank you from the bottom of my heart to every person speaking up for women's rights, LGB rights, child safety, and all of our freedom of speech, belief, and association. A picture of the sun setting over the 3 Sisters, trees I named for me, Netha, and our other sister. Beautiful skies always make Netha feel close, and I have needed her so much these past weeks.

I haven’t had sex in almost 5 months now. My wife says she’s constantly exhausted from breastfeeding and the baby waking up every 2 hours. I leave at 6am for work, and come back late, still help with night feeds sometimes and weekend chores, but she just rolls over and says “not tonight, I’m touched out.” I feel invisible and unwanted in my own bed. I've tried suggesting we plan a date night without the kids, she called it pressure. Resentment is growing fast. What should I do before I start looking elsewhere?

This is my sister, and I owe her my life. She took me to hospital the night I nearly died. She stuck by me while alcoholism ravaged my mind and body, despite how much it hurt her to witness. I made a promise. That I would not only recover, but thrive. I have kept my word 🙏

“These ARE my pronouns. You will use them, or you will not refer to me. At all.” People like this are absolutely insufferable. No, I’m not going to go through ridiculous contortions of speech in order to prop up your enormous, fragile ego.

The brutal, senseless murders of Bebe, Elsie and Alice marked one of the darkest moments in our country’s history. The report today is truly harrowing and profoundly disturbing. It sets out systematic failures that led to this terrible event. I’ve been overwhelmed by the bravery and determination of their families and while nothing will ever bring these three little girls back, I’m determined to make the fundamental changes needed to keep the public safe. I will do everything I can to honour the memory of Bebe, Elsie, and Alice.

@MuckerWes The world is bigger than your country In the UK she is correct, women's single sex spaces are for biological women, as per the Supreme Court. Calling out predators is hardly transphobic lol

JKR told her followers to sexually harass people you THINK might be transgender in the bathroom. If you caught them in a stage of undress, this would also be encouraging revenge porn. Transgender folks are 1% of the population, so who gets sexually harassed most for being trans, especially in person? Majority: Cis women. Transphobia is a danger to ALL women because it's misogyny. Cis women often cannot meet the standard of beauty that misogynists and TERFS set for all women because of masculine traits being deemed "manly."

@mcflyzen @bjones54327 @TheRigLib @MuckerWes @iamaerell @fiercepatricks I do not care what anyone wears. More power to them. So long as the sex based rights of women and girls are protected. It's all JK Rowling calls for yet is vilified.

Mmmm. Very pretty & professional looking, I’ll admit… I’ll also admit I wasn’t instrumental in LGB activism, like Bev Jackson, Kate Harris or Fred Sargeant, but, if I may, I’d like to correct the multitude of errors that litter this statement (again, very pretty, all typed out neatly, by Miffy The Whiffy Gamer… either from some bot or his imagination) But let’s get a few facts straight, shall we? I’ve been a vocally out gay actor since 1990. In those days, if you were gay, & open about it, you were only cast in gay parts. And it was bloody difficult. I worked for The London Gay Theatre Company in 1992 & 1994. I was in many different LGB plays throughout the 90’s, & was interviewed & spoke about being “openly gay” with Gay Times, Attitude, The Pink Paper & many other gay publications. In every interview I gave, it was mentioned (much to my eventual boredom & to the irritation of the gay press, who seemed to be frustrated at me for not believing that being gay was the most interesting thing about me.) In 1993, I was part of the West End cast of “Elegies for Angels, Punks & Raging Queens”, alongside Regina Fong, Simon Fanshawe, Trudie Styler, Kim Cresswell & many others. The show was about those who’d died from AIDS, & every night, we raised a significant amount of money for AIDS charities. We also all performed on the main stage at Pride that year. In 1994, I was in New York during the Gay Games, where I made a film about lesbian ice skating, which we shot on location. I marched with Ian Mckellen (who was also in the film) & Martin Sherman, to celebrate the Games. In 1996, myself & 6 other openly gay actors were part of a successful little indie film called “Boyfriends”. Again, we all vocally supported gay rights in various interviews. In 1997, Stonewall invited me to their Equality Show at the Albert Hall, to high kick with the Tiller Girls, as part of a small group of out performers, including Stephen Fry, Jimmy Somerville, Simon Fanshawe, to encourage others to come out & be proud. Yes, we were actually “celebrated” by Stonewall back then, believe it or not. In 1999, I played a controversial, purposefully vile gay character in Jonathan Harvey’s sitcom ‘Gimme Gimme Gimme’. It was controversial because it was one of the first gay characters that was entirely comfortable with his sexuality, was vulgarly open about it & wasn’t always portrayed in a positive light. The gay press were not happy, initially, but it apparently grew on them. The series continued until 2001. Again, I did interview after interview discussing & championing gay rights. In 2000, I played Bette Midler’s ‘openly gay’ musical accompanist, Oscar, in the short lived sitcom ‘Bette’. Being a series regular, I used my voice in interviews to speak up for gay rights. In 2004, I took part in the first series of Gordon Ramsey’s Hell’s Kitchen, raising £40, 000 for my chosen charity The Terence Higgins Trust, which I publicly supported & endorsed endlessly. Do bear in mind, there was no social media as we know it now. I joined Twitter in 2014. From 2000 to 2014, LGB people had achieved equality & for the first time, it seemed to be ok to be gay. I rejoined the fight online when I saw the damage the TQ+ was now was doing to the rights we’d, as gay people, had already won, at much cost. I was reluctant & angry, as I’d thought we’d been there, done that, bought the t-shirt etc. But no. So if you mean I played no part in the fight for LGB rights, you’d either be wrong or lying. The world didn’t start with the advent of the internet. Perhaps if I stuck on a red beret, a dress, held an Antifa flag & hollered at a crowd through a megaphone to “punch terfs in the f**king face”, I’d already be lauded as a “champion of LGBTQIA+ rights”. Maybe that was my mistake…🤷 Please RETWEET as my reach is yet again severely restricted. Thank you.
