
The upcoming surge in humidity will be unusually expansive and extreme — more than just normal summer weather. For large swaths of the United States and Canada, the maximum dew point, a direct measure of peak humidity, is forecast to exceed the 90th percentile for the time of year (dark orange). In some states, as well as southern Canada, it will likely break records (red). As a meteorologist and science communicator, building trust means backing up forecasts with data and statistics — and going well beyond anecdotal evidence.
