Today we joined Arua District Local Government and other stakeholders to celebrate the International Women’s Day 2026 at Vurra Town Council Headquarters in Arua District. The commemoration, held under the theme “Scaling up investments to accelerate the delivery of gender equality and empowerment of women and girls in Uganda,” emphasized the need to strengthen actions that promote equality, inclusion, and the empowerment of ALL women and girls in our communities. #IWD2026 #TwezuuleFoundation

The Coalition to Stop Maternal Mortality due to Unsafe Abortion (@CSMMUA_) convened its Quarter One meetingto strengthen coordination and sharpen advocacy efforts aimed at advancing women’s health and rights in Uganda. The meeting brought together coalition members to plan strategic advocacy engagements around Supreme Court Constitutional Appeal No. 1 of 2026 (arising from Petition 10), a case with significant implications for access to Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR). Discussions also focused on identifying high-impact, time-sensitive priorities to inform the coalition’s 2026 annual work plan, which will later be presented to the Steering Committee for consideration and guidance. #SafeAndLegalCare

The quarterly meeting discussions fed into the documentation of best practices on abortion advocacy and broader #SRHR work contributing to the coalition’s wider research and learning agenda. Through this engagement, #CSMMUA coalition members continued to build a stronger, coordinated voice in advancing policies, advocacy, and evidence that protect the health, dignity, and the reproductive rights of women and girls. #SafeAndLegalCare

In his address at @CSMMUA_’s quarterly meeting , Richard Muganzi, Director of Programs at the secretariat , emphasized the critical transition the coalition is making from planning to action. He reflected on the coalition's growth, noting that what began as a small group of five or six organizations has expanded into a significant movement capable of influencing national policy. Muganzi stressed that the coalition's strength lies in its diverse membership and collective voice, which allows it to challenge restrictive reproductive health policies more effectively than any single organization could. He highlighted the importance of the 2024–2028 strategic plan as a roadmap for progress but urged members to move beyond theory and focus on tangible implementation in 2026. His called for unity, encouraging members to remain committed to the shared goal of reducing maternal mortality through bold advocacy and legal action. #SafeAndLegalCare

As preparations come to a close for the post–International Women’s Day commemoration scheduled for Friday, 13th March 2026 at Vurra Town Council Headquarters in Arua District, yesterday I joined district officials, women leaders, and partners for the final planning meeting. I appreciate the tireless efforts of our Youth Agents for Disability Inclusion (#YADs) in Arua who continue to advance the leadership, participation, and visibility of young people with disabilities, particularly young women with disabilities, ensuring their voices remain central in these engagements. At @TwezuuleF we believe that Empowering young leaders with disabilities is not only about inclusion; it is about unlocking the leadership, innovation, and solutions that our communities need.” #IWD2026#TwezuuleFoundation

Last week, I joined the Youth Engagement Workshop hosted by @NLinUganda under the #WomenUganda25+ campaign at the Ambassador’s Residence. In a room full of young leaders and changemakers, one message stood out: gender equality in Uganda cannot be achieved if it leaves anyone behind. I shared perspectives from persons with disabilities and other marginalized communities, emphasizing that inclusion must be intentional, especially when advancing women’s rights and ending violence against women. We must actively include women with disabilities, women living with HIV, young women facing poverty, stigma, and limited digital access, and those from underserved communities. Too often, their voices are missing from policy spaces despite facing intersectional discrimination where gender inequality overlaps with disability, health status, and socio-economic barriers. Meaningful progress under #WomenUganda25+ requires accessible SRHR services, disability-inclusive and stigma-free programming, and safe spaces that are physically and socially accessible. It was encouraging to see H.E. @FrederiekeQ engage openly with us and reaffirm the value of youth voices in shaping this campaign. The conversation was a powerful reminder that: inclusion is not an afterthought, it is the foundation of sustainable change. #NothingForUsWithoutUs#LeaveNoOneBehind #TwezuuleFoundation

Last month, I attended the O3PLUS Phase 2 Performance Review and Planning Meeting organized by @UnescoEast . It was a powerful moment to reflect on the impact of the #O3PLUSProject since 2022 and to shape the direction for 2026 and beyond. Led by UNESCO and partners, the project has strengthened sexual and reproductive health, mental health awareness, and student well-being in universities. During the discussions, I shared the importance of intentionally including students with disabilities in every stage of the project. I urged stakeholders to ensure that students with disabilities are not just counted as beneficiaries, but meaningfully engaged in planning, decision-making, and leadership. O3PLUS has improved access to information and safer spaces in universities but true impact will only be achieved when accessibility, participation, and representation are fully prioritized. #DisabilityInclusion #InclusiveEducation

This week, I convened a productive Board Meeting for @TwezuuleF to reflect on our progress and strategically plan ahead. From experiencing employment discrimination due to my disability to now leading critical conversations that shape inclusive programs for young people with disabilities, this journey has been purpose-driven and grounded in lived realities. We reviewed our programs and recommitted to our vision: a society where young people with disabilities are empowered, included, and have equal access to opportunities. Grateful to our Board for their leadership and stewardship as we continue advancing disability inclusion, youth empowerment, and sustainable impact in Uganda and beyond. #DisabilityInclusion #YouthEmpowerment

Seeing faith leaders commit to making such adjustments is truly inspiring. Accessible ramps and sign language interpreters may seem small, but they make a huge difference in our communities if we intentionally mean to welcome everyone. #AccessibilityForAll #TwezuuleFoundation

Spent Valentine’s Day sharing the gospel of #DisabilityInclusion with church leaders. Men and women of God left with strong commitments of making adjustments in their churches starting with accessible ramps & sign language interpreters. #AccessibilityForAll #TwezuuleFoundation
