The point is the elite educated libs don’t actually raise their own kids with the left-wing ideology that they’re preaching about to the rest of us. They aren’t trying to trans their own children; they are pushing that agenda on middle America. The Newsom kids will be fine, I think they can tel that their mother is an actress playing a part in front of an audience. What I find interesting about the Newsoms is that they both relentlessly promote liberal/left ideologies that are corrosive to family formation and undermine traditional values. However, at the same time, they've been in a heterosexual marriage for 20+ years and have 4 children together. By those measures, they are more "trad" in terms of their own lifestyle than most Americans are, even a lot of conservatives aren't married with 4 kids.
So what that tells me is the Newsoms KNOW that the traditional family model is the best; that's why they chose it when they both could've chosen anything else. But as elites they still promote insidious ideologies that end up harming the ordinary people who listen to them. It's a perfect illustration of "luxury beliefs."

Every time Trump ran for President I voted for him.

The negative reviews of Super Mario Galaxy are absolute slander.
There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with this movie.
The Musical Score is excellent.
The voice performances are incredibly done.
The story progression will keep adults and children from being bored.
Any adult and child who has played Nintendo Games in the last 40 years will have Easter Eggs from their childhood they can enjoy.
For viewers not deep into Nintendo lore, the themes and story are easy to follow.
You have to work to find fault with it.

"It's for kids" — so were Peter Pan, Beauty & the Beast, Toy Story, Incredibles, Narnia, The Hobbit, The Little Mermaid, and so on down a very long list of brilliant stories.
"It's like they wanted [good writing]" — I would've settled for something that at least matched the story of the Super Mario Galaxy game, which a lot of this movie's defenders were apparently too dim to notice.
"It's like they were expecting [a brilliant movie]" — see above. Apparently, even matching the story quality of the last Mario movie was too much to ask.
"It was never intended to be [great], I thought it was great" — either it isn't great and that doesn't matter, or it is great and you should argue for its quality. Make up your mind.
"Loads of fan service" — believe it or not, you can have fan service AND a good story.
I'm getting bored of making this point: nobody loses if the writing is better. This hostility to the application of basic creative standards says a lot more about you than it does the critics.

It's mental that people are heavily critiquing The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. It's a kids film, I took my 5yo son to see it today and he LOVED it. It's like they wanted shocking drama, gut wrenching monologues, life lessons, deep metaphors. It's a slightly chubby Italian plumber and his brother in their overalls, on an adventure with a screaming mushroom. That's literally all that matters. It was never intended to be Shawshank Redemption or Ben Hur, was it? I thought it was great, loads of fan service, and introduced a new generation to the amazing Fox McCloud/Star Fox 💙
