Also please stop distributing this clip. This is not Kimi Antonelli’s pole lap. This is his other Q3 lap. This can be verified in 5 seconds because we know he came across Hadjar on his pole lap (screenshot below) & that is not seen in the footage that went viral.

@brakeboosted Ironically, FE style short layouts would probably suit them better than some actual F1 tracks.

Unironically the only normal weekend this season in terms of the driving experience will be Monaco. The circuit farthest from the mean on the calendar. These cars were not designed for proper circuits. Of course Monaco is a drivers track but for a whole different reason, but my point stands. They would work incredibly well around FE shortened layouts, which should tell you the balls-up they've made.

That was always the likely outcome tbh. If the issue is drivers having to manage electrical deploymt through the lap instead of driving quali flat out, then any real cure probably needs a regulation lvl change. For this season they can maybe optimize the worst of it. #F1 #JapaneseGP #Ferrari #Suzuka

According to Jon Noble (The Race), a meeting with the FIA and team technical directors is scheduled for April 9th to address the issues surrounding qualifying. Some solutions will have to wait until next season. Other intermediate solutions are being discussed for this season.

@thdxr Agents don’t give execs back that experience coz that was never their reality to begin with. For actual devs, these tools are useful but they don’t replace the messy, human parts of building softw debugg or dealing with legacy code written by someone who left 3 years ago.

if you are high up at a company you probably miss the days when you coded and shipped features you feel a crazy amount of exuberance now that coding agents return some of that back to you it's a huge mistake to think this is somehow relevant to people working day to day

With agentic slop, we are trading software reliability for shipping velocity and calling it progress. It isn't. Systems are more fragile than ever, and engineers building them no longer trust their code to hold up in real-world edge cases. I am pro-AI, but this will backfire - big time.

@F1GuyDan I get why he’s confident. He’s pointing to two clear issues..corner grip/aero efficiency and better PU exploitatn. That makes it sound believable, but Ferrari and especially Mercedes still look like the cleaner packages right now.

Andrea Stella says he's "confident" that McLaren will be fighting for podiums & victories on merit in 2026. "I think the MCL40 is a very high-potential platform. At the moment, our car, when we compare it to Ferrari and Mercedes, suffers a bit of a deficit in grip. So, Ferrari and Mercedes are faster than us in the corners. I think compared to Mercedes we see that we are probably underexploiting the power unit a little bit. It was better in China compared to Australia. We are on a steep learning curve when it comes to getting the most out of the power unit, which is positive, and we are working very well with HPP to make sure that we get on top of all the potential, extracting all the potential that is available in the power unit. But coming back on the chassis side, we understand exactly what to do in terms of putting in place the actions to improve the chassis furthermore. In fact, it’s just about bringing upgrades that will increase the aerodynamic efficiency. These will happen in the next couple of events, so I think from there we should see a positive trajectory and we are confident that McLaren will be in condition to compete for podiums and victories on merit within this season."

A supersonic 800 km range Brahmos gives IA a massive capability to accurately hit nearly all major logistics and staging areas in Tibet and Xinjiang without bringing the launchers too close to border. Hotan and Kashgar are not so distant anymore. This alongside upcoming Rocket Force equipped with SRBMs will be a pretty good deterrent.

@FDataAnalysis Merc’s ICE should feel a lot more relevant here than in China...the way they deploy and harvest without overheating the rears is key. Ferrari might look mega in S1 but if they can’t keep the rear temps under control, race pace will slip. x.com/i/status/20370…
Anakin@Twin_Sunsett

what he’s politely not saying is tht the current regs have turned quali into a tire temp lottery + a battery mgmt sim...you can have the fastest car on paper but if you can’t get the tires in the window or you’re saving charge for the final sector, the lap is cooked before it starts. #F1 #Ferrari #JapaneseGrandPrix #Suzuka

🗒️ KEY SUZUKA NOTES 🔥Extreme cornering speeds and tyre stress: -Ferrari's superior chassis/aero will help in quali, BUT... -...High wear will hurt them in the race -Crucial to ace per-corner ERS deployment/harvest to save energy (and tyres)... meaning that quali won't be flat out as usual :( Very PU-demanding track, like Australia: Mercedes' ICE power advantage will matter more than in China Crucial indicator of each team's performance for the rest of the season... or at least before the technical directives and big updates 📸 @pirellisport @GaborWeber #F1 #JapaneseGP

@F1BigData I think we should watch FP1 long runs closely, because resurfacing can change tyre behaviour more than people think. Suzuka is already hard on tyres, and even if the new surface adds grip, that doesn’t automatically mean the balance window gets easier.

@bayraktar_1love and the export impact is already showing media reported tht oil loading at both Primorsk and Ust Luga came to a complete halt after the strikes and combined, these two ports handle up to half of Rus’s maritime oil export..infact smoke was reportedly visible from Finland.

🚨🔥 Ukraine has been striking key energy infrastructure and other targets in Russia’s Leningrad region for three consecutive days: • March 24 — Primorsk port, one of Russia’s largest Baltic oil export hub with capacity of up to ~75 million tons per year
• March 25 — Ust-Luga port, handling over 100 million tons of cargo annually, including oil and LNG
• March 25 — Vyborg, where the Project 23550 ice-class patrol ship Purga partially sank at the shipyard
• March 26 — Kirishi (KINEF) refinery, one of Russia’s largest refineries with processing capacity of around ~20 million tons per year.

🚨🔥Following the recent strikes on Primorsk, Ukrainian drones targeted the ports of Vyborg and Ust-Luga today. Ust-Luga is Russia’s largest Baltic port, handling over 100 million tons of cargo annually, including oil, LNG and coal, while Vyborg serves as a smaller but important regional export hub. Together with Primorsk, these ports form a key part of Russia’s Baltic export infrastructure, critical for energy shipments and sustaining the country’s war economy.

@TheLegateIN Only question is cost...retrofitting with autonomy kits, sensors, and IP based controls isn't cheap. If it approaches the price of a new T-72 you have to weigh that trade off.

This is good news in terms of it being a bandaid fix for Suzuka but these regulations have really dropped the ball when it comes to qualifying & its importance to what F1 is.
Jon Noble@NobleF1

🚨 #F1 manufacturers and the FIA have agreed a last-minute rule change to qualifying for the Japanese Grand Prix in a bid to avoid energy management headaches. The single lap recharge limit - which was originally going to be 9MJ for Suzuka - will be dropped to 8MJ. This should reduce the need for excessive super clipping or lift-and-coast tactics in fight for grid positions.
