Pokemon vendors doing the 80% trade value shit is still crazy af to me. So just cause you buy a table at a show, you get this premium of a perk? I don’t get it but the market and the community are okay with is cause I see it at shows and in the YouTube videos. On Sunday, I went to a show here in SoCal. Biggest Charizard I saw was a Gold Star PSA 6 (pic for reference) and dealer stickered it at 5k. I told him I’d make my rounds and I’d come back. Came back towards the end of the show and it was still there. He said he only did Pokemon so of course I show my Zards. He was mostly interested in the Shadow 7 and base 8 and 9. He gave me 80% on my cards and then I’d pay the rest in cash. I said I’ll just offer. I put on my calculator a number I’d do as my starting offer - I put 4000. He told me his number was 4800. I showed him my calculator and I said I’d offer 4400 best and he declined. I can’t make a full switch to Pokemon/TCG cause getting 80% from people who try to trade seems… scummy/scammy albeit everyone accepts it. And I love sports cards too. Still gonna be buying up Charizards though…
