Pain patients are getting screwed by the overdose crisis. My friend was offered suboxone for chronic pain when what she needs is morphine. If she had an SUD getting morphine wouldn't be a issue. I'll reiterate the system is failing people! #chronicpain

People w chronic, degenerative, & terminal conditions w #pain should NOT be misdiagnosed SUD, should NOT be forced into treatment for a condition we don't have, should not be refused OPT right for us b/c it's wrong for another, and should never be abandoned due to fear/ignorance

@LeahHoustonMD Wow Dr Leah what you just said is what pain pts thought 2 until now. Those of us who arent pill chasing & really suffer all thought if we were good pts & did as we were asked like take meds right, do UAs & pill counts we would have pain meds & be able 2 live. We were wrong

It was an involuntary & insidious process. We believed that if we just worked hard & did the right thing for our patients that the “system“ would take care of us & make that process functional. We were wrong! Now like a slow boiling frog we’re now realizing we’re in hot water.
