In 2024, Kentucky had a starting five that began their careers at SDSU, BYU, OU, Delaware, & Drexel. Fully healthy, they beat the eventual national champs and were Elite 8 caliber. If that roster were built this offseason, it would likely be criticized. Not saying this year's team will succeed or fail, just saying maybe we should let it play out.

Now, if you're Kentucky, you're almost in a no-win situation. Overpay for Donnie Freeman and further the narrative that you'll allow agents to take you to the cleaners, or let him walk, which would be a tough look for a guy you clearly targeted. This is where a GM comes in handy.

@Po_T8ter Sweet 16s have never mattered to me. Coaches are “here to win banners”. Banners=NC, runner-up, or Final Four. Literally nobody expects one every year. But you can’t go 9 years w/out one and to circle back to my original point several years ago, Cal will never win another banner.

@TylerBentley2 It seemed to matter to you when Cal was here. Again if the only merit of success is a National championship you will be miserable 95% of the time. There’s only one of those every year.

@JByGodRod I don’t think anyone would complain. Everyone’s least favorite player on this year’s team is a native Kentuckian. Just want to win. Doesn’t matter where coach and players are from.

How would UK fans feel if we were Illinois? I feel like this fanbase would still be bitching, because they are all European & foreign players. What say ye?
