@SandyofCthulhu I won mutton busting at my local state rodeo when I was 8. No helmets. No pads. Just stuck me and my cousins sheep and let it run! Signed up for the event when the rodeo clown came through the crowd collecting kids.
Won a very large real silver belt buckle.
Wild.

The rodeo is friends with the city & state though. For instance they rent city-owned facilities. And yes I know there are cool things in German that are private. (Like the Technik.) Still, I thought it was telling.
Years before I took a British family to the Mesquite Rodeo and I had to explain to them it was wholly private. They were especially taken aback by the 10-minute video on the giant screen extolling America and our armed forces. Seemed like an ad. I shrugged and said, “We love our military.”
Then when they brought out the lamb with the ribbon in its tail and said, “All children can come on down and try to get the ribbon for a prize!”
They were worried that 100 kids running free after a half-wild sheep would be “dangerous”. What could I say?
“Think how much fun thousands of kids would’ve lost if a nanny shut it down.” They agreed with me.
The picture is what they do now - Mutton-Bustin. Kids try to stay on a sheep.

Germans at the Rodeo!
Two German friends came to visit Texas so of course, I took them to the Fort Worth Rodeo. Between events a cute cowgirl rode around the ring at top speed carrying a Coca Cola flag.
They stared slack-jawed. "How is she allowed to do that?" I was puzzled. "What do you mean?"
Germans “This isn’t government run?”
Sandy “This isn’t government run.”
They seemed surprised beyond comprehension that something so cool could be completely privately funded.

@JoshYoung @NancyMace At the very least, our senior class of 2026 should not pay property taxes...
English

@NancyMace No one should pay property tax.
Cut spending instead!

@JoshYoung I also have a brainstormed, outline, idea for why the bank should loan me a billion dollars

@LeoKearse Judges should be hanging from underpasses by now...
English

>Gypsy travellers commit premeditated gang rape of a child.
>It lasts 90 minutes.
>They film the attacks, laugh at the child they're raping, encourage their friends to rape her, mock the child asking “why do you look sad?”
>They know they won't be punished so they rape an even younger child at knifepoint, cut her clothes off with knives.
>The child victims are left petrified and wanting to die.
>Judge praises the gang rapists' behaviour in court.
>Judge lets them walk free saying “I should avoid criminalising [the rapists] unnecessarily”.
>Gives them "youth rehabilitation orders".
>Other gang rapists now know that activist judges have effectively decriminalised the violent gang rape of British children.
>None of this is accidental.

@adamtaggart @Peter_Atwater I just went for three days last week. Drove from NV. 4 kids under 6, two adults. Between travel, hotel, tickets, and food it was $2500 hotel, $2000 tickets, $1000 in food and gas.
$5,500 - $6,000 total give or take. Could be cheaper if you don't like churros.
English

@Peter_Atwater Per Google Gemini:
"A family of four (two adults, two children) can expect to pay between $5,000 and $10,000+ for a 5-7 night Disney World vacation in 2026, with a typical "baseline" trip costing around $7,000-$7,500."
I'd say Disney has been for the top arm for a while now...

@kareem_carr It says that you believe deeply that at least 49% of humanity are suicidal idiots.

If you press blue, the worst case is you die.
If you press red, the worst case is you took part in an action that killed just under half of humanity.
Clicking blue minimizes the worst-case moral injury.
It says you’d rather die than risk contributing to the death of another.

Everyone in the world has to take a private vote by pressing a red or blue button. If more than 50% of people press the blue button, everyone survives. If less than 50% of people press the blue button, only people who pressed the red button survive. Which button would you press?

@WhiteBabyFac Make by far. I had great female teachers too. But one guy teacher in particular impacted me most.
