The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights has highlighted in clear terms that the 27th Amendment undermines separation of powers & judicial independence & risks “subjugating the judiciary to political interference and executive control”.

Human Rights Watch, in 2023, reported that Israel was using starvation as a method of warfare in Gaza. Western governments, in 2025, are slowly waking up, if at all. It’s the bitter truth: colonial subjects are only worthy of respect when they are dead. hrw.org/news/2023/12/1…

PML-N’s "grand" vision: “… if a prime minister could be removed on the basis of a controversial judgement like Panama, why can’t action be taken against others...”. In other words: “if it happened to us, it should happen to you”. dawn.com/news/1922675/s…

I wish children didn’t die. I wish they would be temporarily elevated to the skies until the war ends. Then they would return home safe, and when their parents would ask them: “where were you?”, they would say: “we were playing in the clouds”. — Ghassan Kanafani, Palestinian writer murdered by Israel

What made me such a supporter of Palestinian rights in the past few years? Mostly, when I started studying genetics, I realized they were the Biblical Judeans. Then I spent 3-4 years digging & discovered it was the Z1onists who refused to settle: they wanted the whole thing.

The claim that Ms Rachel is antisemitic is absurd, but it is also irrelevant to the fact that Zionists are killing children and they must be stopped. That is the most important aspect of the story: they are killing our children.

This message is worth listening for everyone from India and Pakistan. It's in India's interest to talk with Pakistan; Pakistan must reciprocate in good faith. This is not about candle light vigils; it's in the strategic interest of both countries. youtu.be/UBpE_Lm9j0A?si…

‘Losses Are Part of Combat’, IAF Says But Declines to Share Details of What Platforms India Lost This is a significant admission and the sad fact is that the IAF's refusal to provide specifics will continue to lend credence to Pakistan's claims of having shot down multiple Indian aircraft. Everybody knows 'all our pilots are back home' is not the same as 'all our planes are back home'. The refusal to acknowledge losses stems from the Modi government's political compulsions because the resulting cost-benefit analysis may alter public perceptions about the utility of Op. Sindoor. thewire.in/security/losse…

Defeat is an orphan. Bhakts will want to scapegoat an officer rather than question Modi and Hindutva’s ideological bankruptcy.

*Ministry of Foreign Affairs* *Pakistan Welcomes President Trump’s Statemet* Pakistan welcomes the statement by the US President Donald J. Trump regarding Pakistan-India relations. We acknowledge with appreciation the constructive role played by the United States, alongside other friendly states, in supporting the recent ceasefire understanding between Pakistan and India; a step towards de-escalation and regional stability. We also appreciate President Trump’s expressed willingness to support efforts aimed at the resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute - a longstanding issue that has serious implications for peace and security in South Asia and beyond. Pakistan reaffirms that any just and lasting settlement of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute must be in accordance with the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions and must ensure the realization of the fundamental rights of the Kashmiri people, including their inalienable right to self-determination. Pakistan remains committed to engaging with the United States and the international community in efforts to promote peace, security, and prosperity in the region. We also look forward to deepening our multifaceted partnership with the United States, particularly in the areas of trade, investment, and economic cooperation. Islamabad 11 May 2025

The visible US role—I’m sure Trump’s use of “mediated” esp. irks Delhi—and the agreement to hold talks at a neutral site can be thought of the concessions the US extracted from India to get to a Pakistani ceasefire. Minor concessions. Glad India agreed. Glad Pakistan accepted.
Secretary Marco Rubio@SecRubio

Over the past 48 hours, @VP Vance and I have engaged with senior Indian and Pakistani officials, including Prime Ministers Narendra Modi and Shehbaz Sharif, External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir, and National Security Advisors Ajit Doval and Asim Malik. I am pleased to announce the Governments of India and Pakistan have agreed to an immediate ceasefire and to start talks on a broad set of issues at a neutral site. We commend Prime Ministers Modi and Sharif on their wisdom, prudence, and statesmanship in choosing the path of peace.
