Had a great tour of Sleeman Breweries in Ontario. Businesses like this create good jobs, grow the economy and attract investment across Canada.

With the recent release of our Nuclear Energy Engagement and Advisory Panel Report, #CNA2026 was a valuable opportunity to connect with leaders from across Canada, including Minister René Legacy and Minister Stephen Lecce, as Alberta develops its nuclear energy roadmap.

I am incredibly honoured to be appointed by Premier @ABDanielleSmith as Alberta's Minister of Assisted Living and Social Services. It has been a privilege to serve as Minister of Affordability and Utilities. Over the past three years, we've made great progress on building a strong foundation for Alberta's energy future that I'm proud to have been apart of. Amid growing electricity demands, we've stabilized the power grid, following a hasty coal-phase out, by prioritizing reliability and bringing an additional 3,000 megawatts of dispatchable, baseload generation online in 2024 alone. As a result of new generation, wholesale electricity prices dropped by 53% in 2024, and another 30% in 2025. We also brought down the default rate of electricity by 63% from its peak. The federal Clean Electricity Regulations - which would've driven power bills up by 35% and made our grid 100 times less reliable - are gone. We also began an important conversation on the potential for nuclear energy to meet future energy demands. I know this momentum and work will continue under the new Minister of Affordability and Utilities, Minister @RjSigurdson, supported by Parliamentary Secretary @CdeJongeAB and I wish them both all the best in their roles going forward. I want to thank all those who I've had the opportunity to connect with during my time in Affordability and Utilities, including the incredible electricity sector that keep our province powered each and every day. I also want to thank Minister @JasonNixonAB for his work in Assisted Living and Social Services. He leaves big shoes to fill (literally), but I will work every day to support and be a voice for the most vulnerable in our province. I look forward to getting up to speed on this new portfolio and getting to work.

The Calgary Chamber of Commerce @CalgaryChamber plays a critical role in standing up for the businesses, entrepreneurs, and job creators that drive Alberta’s economy forward. It was great joining leaders from Calgary’s business community to talk about Alberta’s energy future, new pipelines, investment, and the enormous opportunity in front of our province. After years of watching opportunities get blocked and delayed, Alberta is finally back on offence and the world is taking notice.

Today, we announced the appointment of an AI expert panel to help ensure our post-secondary institutions are preparing students for the future. There is no doubt that AI is transforming our economy and the job market that graduates are entering. It is essential that our post-secondary institutions respond accordingly and equip students with the skills they need. Building on the AI roundtable we held last April, the panel will engage with key stakeholders - including faculty, students, researchers, and employers - and provide practical recommendations. Their advice will help identify what’s working, where improvements are needed, and how best practices can be scaled across our post-secondary institutions.

Albertans need to know that help is available, when they need it. That's why our government is investing $62 million to improve access to targeted supports for Albertans experiencing family violence. Through the new, Emergency Family Violence Services program, Albertans can access expanded supports and services where they feel safest - whether that's at home, in their community, or at a shelter. It will also help shelters address urgent building repairs, renovations and safety upgrades. Learn more: alberta.ca/release.cfm?xI…

Alberta can succeed inside Canada. A strong vote to stay in Canada this fall will put this question to rest and let us all focus on building the best possible Alberta AND Canada. If a referendum is held on October 19th, I'll be voting to stay. I hope you will too.

Welcome to Alberta where we are Strong and Free. These new border signs, while very similar in design to the previous signs, are a welcome refresh and a reminder of who we are as a province to all who come. buff.ly/Vnbw47M

I had a very engaging roundtable discussion with the @aasasmembership from across Alberta, and was happy to hear how continued investments are helping sexual assault centres reduce wait times, expand supports, and strengthen prevention efforts. Budget 2026 invests more than $93 million toward the prevention of family and sexual violence, including funding for 15 sexual assault centres across Alberta. Help is available. If you or someone you know needs support, call or text the Alberta One Line for Sexual Violence at 1-866-403-8000. Learn more at aasas.ca

It has been a great honour to serve as Alberta's Minister of Affordability and Utilities over the last few years. I'm proud of the work we've done to advance the modernization of our electricity system, implement the Rate of Last Resort, stabilize and lower local access fees, and bring down the cost of electricity. I'm so grateful to have recently had the opportunity to recognize those within the Ministry for their achievements at the 2025 Premier's Public Service Awards. This includes the Restructure Energy Market team who won the Public Policy Innovation Award, as well as the Utilities Consumer Advocate Education Team and Transmission Policy Update team who were nominated.

Great meeting today with federal, provincial and territorial partners on cutting red tape and getting rid of the roadblocks that make it harder to do business in Canada. Alberta has led the country on red tape reduction, and we’re continuing to push for common sense changes that make it easier to do business, create jobs and grow the economy.
