@Dcollier74 Most CEOs are not “that” busy—they just have other people do that work and charge accordingly for the product to cover costs. “Efficiency” runs the risk of eliminating “thinking” in favor of running reproducible systems.

@saragoldrickrab @Ericka_Weathers @AmericanAir On your behalf, I no longer feel bad for the plastic iced coffee cup (with a bit of ice and coffee dilute left) I stuffed hard into the seat back pocket bc I missed the flight attendants’ last trash call. Bad day for travel delays.

@Ericka_Weathers @AmericanAir Sure is. My family purchased $17 worth of expensive airport coffee at Le Bus, walked to our gate, went to board, and were stopped. She said "you've never been able to carry drinks onto the plane, there could be alcohol on it." I've flown literally hundreds of times ...

Hi @AmericanAir is it true that passengers are no longer allowed to carry an airport-purchased coffee like this one onto a plane? I was just told I couldn't board with this 🤦🏻‍♀️ Please advise.

One of the most impressive feats of AI right now is how professional journalists can write entire articles about it by *only citing men*. 🫡 The perspectives on AI range from all the way from Altman to Musk!! 🫠nytimes.com/2023/06/11/tec…

@Bali_Maha I have graded work with others a few times and I think it’s great. I’ve found it really hard to get folks to attend “grade-a-thons,” however. Most claim they are too busy grading (although many recognize the irony).

It occurred to me recently that grading is *so lonely* and that's one of the reasons I don't enjoy doing it, even though I actually enjoy reading my students' work (mostly) and sometimes it geels like a conversation with them. Do ppl ever get together to sit and grade? 1/2

Here's how I introduced generative AI to my students, along with several tools, potential use cases and an analogy that's probably pretty dumb, but it's what my very tired brain is capable of at this point. When AI brain chip @elonmusk? marcwatkins.substack.com/p/embracing-ge…

I've started a free substack themed on how AI will impact education. First post is up-a rundown of current AI detection software and why they are unreliable. Bigger question-why are we obsessed with catching students cheating? marcwatkins.substack.com/p/our-obsessio…

Parents in academia (@Momademia) how do you do it? In academia, we accept a job and move to a new place where we don’t have any support. What do you do when your daycare needs to close? How do you handle emergencies? 🧵

One of my students dropped by with a gift they made to thank me for last semester's teaching. So incredibly detailed and not just from an artistic perspective - she clearly listened intently to every lecture and tutorial and really personalised this. A real treasure...
