Goldmoon establishes the moral core of Dragonlance. Not Tanis. Not Laurana. Her. A chieftain's daughter who watched her people stone her for heresy — and still chose faith in her lover Riverwind over survival. The first true cleric in an age where the gods had abandoned Krynn. Complete character sheet from my Dragons of Ice adaptation — turnaround, portraits, weapons, palette. Who would you cast as Goldmoon in a live action adaptation? And is she underrated compared to Laurana? #Dragonlance #FantasyArt #DnD

why not let them ride as women?? i swear to god this franchise got away with so much casual misogyny and exclusion of women when it isn’t even tolkien adherent like that lol this shit wouldn’t side today
Massimo@Rainmaker1973

Fun fact. In the Lord of the Rings films, most of the Riders of Rohan were actually women with fake beards because when the production put out a call for local experienced riders, a lot of women showed up with their own horses.

@silverlock Dying during character creation? While I can appreciate the hardcore nature of classic Traveller; I really don't like it when a game wastes my time.

The first TTRPG I played with a group was Traveller. I think this shaped my role playing life. For those that don’t know. Traveller does not have a standard character creation. Most games have you deciding what type of character you want and try to get stats to make that good or not. In Traveller, you can want to try for a particular type of character (college professor, navel officer, Scout, etc) but you have to roll for the different level of your career. You wanted to go to college? You failed and find your self in a life of crime. Want to become a marine officer? You get mustered out and become a scout. In classic Traveller your character can even die in character creation. I see so many players that have a preconceived future history of their character ideas, I think most could learn to roll with the punches a little more.

If you were wondering why Trump is so damn interested in getting his hands on any uranium in Iran, even the "dust," here's one reason. Once acquired, experts can undertake a process called nuclear forensic analysis (aka provenance determination), whereby it can be determined where the ore originated, and I don't mean in general. They can confirm its origin not only down to the country (or general region) it came from, but also to the mine from which it was extracted. Smart money is on their ore being confirmed to have come from a Uranium mine in Montana. Now stop and consider the implications of that being true, if that's what's ultimately proven. 'Sum of all Fears' energy comes to mind.

Alexander Solzhenitsyn gave the most controversial speech *against* Western Civilization at Harvard in 1978. As a survivor of the Russian Gulags, they expected him to praise the West. Instead, he made a jarring accusation: The West is a dying civilization. If it doesn't change its ways, it is doomed to collapse. In fact, he said this has been the case for 500 years, when the West made a crucial mistake: "How did the West decline from its triumphal march to its present debility? ...the mistake must be at the root, at the very foundation of thought in modern times. I refer to the prevailing Western view of the world which was born in the Renaissance… I refer to humanism — the proclaimed autonomy of man from any higher force above him." Solzhenitsyn said humanism made man autonomous from God, Truth, and objective morality. If all morality is subjective, then man has nothing to live nor die for. Naturally, he loses his courage, embraces materialism, and grows effeminate to modern evils. So, what is the solution? A return to belief in a transcendental morality under God: "If, as claimed by humanism, man were born only to be happy, he would not be born to die. Since his body is doomed to death, his task on earth evidently must be more spiritual… The fulfillment of a permanent, earnest duty so that one’s life journey may become above all an experience of moral growth: to leave life a better human being than one started it." All cultures live, or die, based on their respect of the True, Good, and Beautiful. To save the West, Solzhenitsyn says start with beautifying your soul, for that is both how you live well, and begin to make civilization itself beautiful again.

@Blackmoor_Film I think the real problem here is that they're playing a "researcher" who already knows a bunch of stuff. If it's their first campaign, they should be 1st level and ignorant. Then, they could, ya know, research monsters and ancient ruins.

The Fellowship of the Thing - Official Blackmoor
It's hard to explain to people that D&D isn't real. The Paralyzing Overthink I see coming from new players makes me sad because I can't show them how to Play In The Moment like all of us Classic RPG gamers do. Make believe Elf Game should be easy, and usually is. The expectation that their game should be just like watching an episode of the Witcher and full of deep lore isn't even what real life is like. I am not mocking this post I found because it makes me sad they can't just play and have fun. IMHO sometimes you need to go to the dungeon, kill things, and take the treasure.

@ScottApogee @UnderTheMayo One of my biggest movie pet peeves is any sequel that invalidates the plot or character arcs of the original. If there had ever been a third Alien movie, I'm sure it would have done exactly that, making it one of the worst sequels ever.

99.9% of people who "experienced" the Challenger disaster saw it on replay and now remember it as live. Almost NO ONE was watching. Everyone thinks they were. It's a fascinating collective false memory.

Anyone who experienced the Space Shuttle Challenger explosion, like I did, is probably a bit hesitant to get too excited about the Artemis II launch today. I truly hope our children don’t have to experience such tragedy. May the Universe welcome them and return them safely home 🙏

@GeneDarkwrites Yeah, this happened to me once. At first, I was pissed. Then it occurred to me that I didn't want to be trapped in a grotto forever, or transformed into a tree, or turned into a hideous monster that couldn't get laid. Learn to accept a divine compliment!

Dear fellow Forgotten Realms fans: I have just reread Elminster: The Making of a Mage, and got to the part where Mystra, the goddess of magic, makes love to him while pretending to be a human woman (who had been his tutor in magic for some years). As a child, I found that romantic, but now, having played through Gale’s storyline in BG3, it seems like something else. Also, is this even the same woman, given that the Mystra Elminster knew died in the Time of Troubles, so Gale’s Mystra would be Midnight. Midnight was NG in the books, so is there something about apotheosis that corrupts, or am I reading too much into this? Guys: if a woman seduced you and you later found out she was an actual goddess, would you be pissed or flattered?
