فصل جديد للأمم المتحدة في العراق مع اختتام ولاية بعثة الأمم المتحدة لمساعدة العراق (يونامي)، يواصل فريق الأمم المتحدة في العراق عمله تحت قيادة المنسق المقيم للأمم المتحدة. ويعمل فريق الأمم المتحدة بالشراكة الوثيقة مع حكومة العراق لدعم الأولويات الوطنية للتنمية، من خلال إطار وثيقة التعاون الإنمائي المستدام للأمم المتحدة (2025–2029) التي تم توقيعها في 25 كانون الأول 2025. ويجسد هذا الانتقال خطوة واضحة نحو تنمية طويلة الأمد ومستدامة، تقودها القيادة الوطنية، وتستند إلى مؤسسات أقوى وشراكات فاعلة. ومن دعم تنويع الاقتصاد والعمل المناخي وإدارة الموارد المائية، إلى تعزيز الحماية الاجتماعية والحوكمة والحلول المستدامة، تواصل الأمم المتحدة دورها كشريك موثوق وملتزم بدعم حكومة العراق.

The Head of the UN and Resident Coordinator in Iraq, Mr. Ghulam M. Isaczai, @G_Isaczai, met with the President of the Kurdistan Region (KR), H.E. Mr. Nechirvan Barzani. The UN reaffirmed its continued presence in Iraq, including in the KR, in support of development and residual humanitarian efforts, in line with the new Cooperation Framework, while expressing appreciation to the Kurdistan Regional Government for its continued partnership and support. The regional situation was also discussed, with both sides highlighting the importance of de-escalation and safeguarding Iraq from the current tensions.

On 15 March, the UNAMI Compound in Erbil was formally handed over to the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG). During the ceremony, UN Resident Coordinator and Head of the UNAMI Liquidation Team, @G_Isaczai, expressed appreciation to KRG's Head of Department of Foreign Relations, @SafeenDizayee for the KRG's partnership, hospitality, and cooperation over the past two decades. The event also included the transfer of residual UNAMl assets, including vehicles, to the KRG. UN agencies, funds and programmes will continue their work across Iraq, including in the Kurdistan Region.

The Head of the UN and Resident Coordinator (RC) in Iraq Ghulam M. Isaczai @G_Isaczai met with KRG Head of Department of Foreign Relations @SafeenDizayee, in Erbil. The meeting discussed UN transition in Iraq, and the ongoing liquidation process of UNAMI scheduled to end on 31 March. The RC reaffirmed that UN agencies will continue their work across Iraq and the Kurdistan Region in support of the Iraqi people under the new Cooperation Framework (2025-2029), signed last December between the UN and the Government of Iraq.

الأمم المتحدة تودّ أن توضح أنها لم تتأثر أي من مكاتبها جراء الحوادث الأمنية الأخيرة في السليمانية. وتشير التقارير الإعلامية التي تتحدث عن مجمّع تابع للأمم المتحدة إلى موقع سابق للأمم المتحدة لم يعد مستخدمًا. وتبقى الأمم المتحدة حاضرة وتواصل عملها بشكل كامل في جميع أنحاء العراق، مستمرة في جهودها الإنسانية والتنموية لخدمة الشعب العراقي.

The United Nations would like to clarify that no UN offices have been impacted by recent security incidents in Sulaymaniyah. Media reports referencing a UN compound relate to a former UN location that is no longer in use. The United Nations remains present and fully operational across Iraq, continuing its humanitarian and development work for the Iraqi people.
