#IndiaAtUN Proud to announce that Major Abhilasha Barak has been awarded the 2025 @UN Military Gender Advocate of the Year Award. She is serving with the Indian Battalion as the Commander of the Female Engagement Team (FET) in #UNIFIL. Major Abhilasha is also first woman combat helicopter pilot of the Indian Army. She is being recognized for her outreach and community engagement activities for women and adolescent girls and gender sensitization training for peacekeepers. She is the third recipient of the award from 🇮🇳, after Major Suman Gawani (2019) and Major Radhika Sen (2024).

On #BiodiversityDay, here’s a photo of an endangered Nilgiri tahr I had the pleasure to observe up close at #Eravikulam National Park in Kerala thanks to rigorous conservation efforts over the years. Ecosystems are interconnected & protecting biodiversity is key to our survival.

This is Laxmi Medha at her residence, following her return to school after dropping out. For many girls in Jhabua, school once became a place of fear rather than a place for learning. Through Learning Centers established by the Govt. of Madhya Pradesh with UNICEF’s technical support, girls who had dropped out due to poverty, migration, and learning gaps are now regularly attending school. #ForEveryChild, opportunity

From the looms of Nom village in Dzongu to Rashtrapati Bhavan🧵 On 19th May, two Lepcha women weavers from North Sikkim were invited by the Hon'ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu in recognition of Sikkim’s contribution to the Republic Day “At Home” invitation kit.
