Great to join health workers and partners at the national polio campaign in #Chad today, which aims at vaccinating children across the country. It’s a concerted effort by countries in the region to push to #EndPolio once and for all.

Have just arrived to Chad and looking forward to meeting with children and families to learn more about the issues that confront children here, and to continue our work with the Government to deliver on our shared goal of furthering the lives of all children in Chad.

UNICEF Ghana Representative @osmakkawi hosted Dr. @SaniaNishtar , CEO of our key partner @gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, for a working lunch during her visit to Ghana. Our meeting focused on strategic objectives, collaborative efforts to enhance child health outcomes, financing, governance, and the critical commodities and vaccine landscape in Ghana. Renewed commitments and encouraging discussions last week between Nigeria’s key decision makers & traditional leaders, and Polo Oversight Board members, to do everything possible to stop polio outbreaks in the country. Together, we will #EndPolio in Nigeria.

The Polio Oversight Board meeting kicked off today to drive Polio eradication and immunization efforts in Nigeria. Strong leadership and LGA engagement are key to keep children from Polio. UNICEF stands with partners to protect every child and strengthen health systems.

A high-level delegation from the Global Polio Eradication Initiative visited 🇳🇬, reaffirming commitment to halt polio transmission. Discussions were on overcoming challenges, with a call for better coordination across all levels to end type 2 poliovirus. unicef.org/nigeria/press-…

At the Polio Oversight Board meeting, I met traditional rulers in Nigeria whose support is key for upcoming campaigns. As I shared with them, ensuring children do not contract polio is top of our agenda. The last mile is tough, but we’ve overcome challenges before and will again!

Polio continues to threaten the lives of children especially those in the most fragile communities. At the Riyadh International Humanitarian Forum, we welcomed @KSRelief_EN’s generous $500M contribution to #GPEI towards a polio-free future for all children. #RIHF

Today, we hosted @GillesFagninou, UNICEF Regional Director for West and Central Africa, on a visit to Maiduguri🇳🇬 In 2024, over 3000 conflict-affected children received family tracing and skill acquisition support. At the Hajj IDP camp, he met some of them and saw products made.

“We are here for the children of Syria, and we ask everyone to put children at the centre of their concern.” UNICEF’s @TedChaiban underlines the hope for a better future for Syria’s children and what is urgently required to make it happen.

More than 4.2 million children in West and Central Africa have never been vaccinated, putting them at risk of life-threatening diseases. We must act now to protect every child – it’s #HumanlyPossible.
