@Michigan_X12 I think LSU beats them by 10+ fwiw. Not sure Clemson even cracks double digits.

@Ultra_BLV Oh yeah for sure, I don’t take offseason rankings that seriously anymore because media heads go more off of using brand names rather than understanding how these teams are built

The top of the Big Ten is OBJECTIVELY better than the SEC. Has been since the conferences expanded. Ohio State and Oregon have both been better than any SEC team in each of the past two years, not to mention Indiana's historic 2025. Middle tier of the Big Ten was on par with the SEC too last year with teams like Washington, Iowa, USC, Illinois, even Penn State was A LOT better than their record indicated in power ratings (higher in F+ than Alabama last season!!!). They've done really well in H2H CFP and bowl games with the SEC over the past 2 years. I still think from top to bottom the SEC is overall superior, I think SEC conference scheudles are generally tougher with fewer easy wins and I think SEC teams in general do a better job with OOC scheduling than Big Ten teams do. But the Big Ten teams generally have more NIL to work with (Texas schools being exceptions) and I think the coaching in the Big Ten has been better than the SEC lately (I'd say 3 of the 4 best coaches in the country right now reside in the Big Ten along with Kirby). The gap has closed massively in the last 2 years.

There's A LOT to unpack here. Kirby Smart on why the Big Ten is currently dominating college football 👇

@CFBwSam They give me 2024 Georgia vibes considering returning QB, tons of talent, #1 in early power ratings, but absolutely brutal schedule making it impossible to go 12-0.

This most underrated player Todd Monken has ever been around? Stetson Bennett. "I underrated him...I tried everything I could early in his career to not play him." "The first year year we won the national title in 21, we won with him...in '22 we won because of him."
Kevin Clark@bykevinclark

One of the best interviews we've ever done. Todd Monken for an electric sitdown. I asked him what the 2026 Browns will look like based on his philosophy. "I despise sh*tty football." This is the good stuff. This Is Football with Todd this week was so great.

I hesitate to write about this because I’m sure not seeking attention. But I do believe in the power of prayer. Last week my wife finally came home with the support of hospice care. As we take this journey please pray that I have strength and that her journey is comfortable. I want to honor the long and great marriage we’ve had. Remember, it all began inside Sanford Stadium in 1986 when a friend introduced us. Thank you in advance for your prayers and support.

EXPLANATIONS 1- 22 and 21 were razor thin. 21 had more overall talent and was more dominant against weaker competition. 22 had a better offense while still having the best defense in the country. Both years the defense had 1 bad game- the 21 team got blown out and the 22 team won. 22 accomplished more and had more of an edge/more confidence in big games. I just think they had more ways to beat you. 2- 23 didn’t accomplish as much as 17 but was clearly a better team imo. More talented, much better passing game and offense in general, better secondary, didn’t get blown out. Honestly debated whether to put 23 in historic or just elite but decided I’d leave historic to the national champs. 18 team had some egos/character issues and that showed against Texas but they were dominant all season outside of 1 game in Baton Rouge in a way the teams in the great tier weren’t and was physically handling an awesome Alabama team in Atlanta for 3 quarters. Best version of Fromm, Swift-Holyfield were elite, underrated receivers, awesome OL and secondary, front improved as the year went on. 3- I loved the 25 team and I considered them for elite but ultimately they didn’t face a ton of great teams, split with the two best they faced, and just didn’t dominate as regularly as the teams above did. I just don’t think they were as good on either side of the ball as 2018 Georgia was. 24 was ravaged by injuries, off field drama, and a historically brutal schedule. Both sides of the ball were inconsistent- offense would show up one week and defense would show up next week. 24 and 19 were close, 19 defense is the best unit of the 4 for sure, but I thought the 19 offense was much more limited, had far fewer highs than 24 did, and losing at home to South Carolina is a major red herring that the 2024 team just didn’t have (they won their versions of that game against Kentucky and Georgia Tech). 2024 Georgia I think because of the senior leadership and the amount of winners on that team just had more of a winning edge to them, as well as Kirby being better in 2024 than he was in 2019 and Bobo >>>>> Coley. 4- 2020 was just never together. COVID wrecked that team. At the start of the year, defense was almost 2021 level but the offense was super limited. Then, once JT came in and the offense began taking off, the defense succumbed to injuries and COVID and regressed. Maybe Kirby’s most underrated coaching job still fielding a top 10 team in that crazy year. 5- 2016 is self explanatory.

In 2022, CJ Stroud and Ohio State beat defending champion Georgia 44-42 on a field goal in the final seconds to advance to the National Championship game. Ohio State, known for their clutch field goal kicking in big games and consistent accuracy, drilled a 50-yard bomb as the clock struck midnight on New Year’s Eve heading into 2023. The Buckeyes met TCU in the National Championship game a week later, where they lost 31-27 as the Horned Frogs earned their first national title since 1938.

@claybwells10 For me that is the most painful loss to Alabama of all of them. Even more than 12 or 17. It was so obvious in hindsight that we were the far better team overall.
