It is genuinely weird how often you see the sentiment 'Oh, we can't do this thing in games anymore, the knowledge has been lost forever' when the thing in question was done like 15 years ago, and the people that did it are all still alive, and you could just hire them to do it?

I was excited for Nomura’s original vision too. I just don’t think it was going to be this idealized perfect game some try to make it out to be.
His focus was also split between franchises, with an engine that was certainly not doing them any favors, slowing development to a grueling crawl.

@MegaPhilX Tifa's purple dress was supposed to be semi-transparent. I wish Square Enix would just go with mature rating for FF7Rs just like FF16, not just because of this but also the censored Jenova's blood and Dyne scenes.

I am someone that absolutely wants to see Final Fantasy 1-6 and 8-9 remade in a hyper realistic form, similar to the FF7 remake trilogy. At the same time, I don’t want the 10 year commitment of a 3-4 part installment for each game. The blueprint has already been created. Take the 3-4 years, remake FF1 (or 8/9) and go from there. Don’t over complicate this. Please. @FinalFantasy

@Cammy_Dalamud The reason FF became a global phenomenon was its high budget. No other games could compete with FFVII–FFX in terms of graphics and CGI cutscenes. If they scale the series down to AA, they'll lose one of the things that makes Final Fantasy special compared to other JRPGs

FF is SE's flagship IP, much like RE is for Capcom. The lvl of character fidelity has become the benchmark expected for mainline entries.
Why would SE intentionally scale back production values and ask its devs to abandon the pursuit of higher technical and artistic ambitions?

Due to a legal ruling which lets AI companies off the hook for copyright infringement as long as they destroy the original book, they're buying up millions of rare books, scanning them as AI training data, and then destroying them.

So AI labs are buying old books by the pallet, slicing them apart, scanning the pages, and pulping what's left. The orders are keyed to ISBNs and blind to scarcity. Nobody in the pipeline checks whether the book being shredded is one of the last copies on earth. Some of them probably are. 1/6
