I wanted to celebrate Egypt's 1-0 goal, but I held myself back. Even if they had gone 2–0 up, I still wouldn’t have celebrated for two reasons. First, African teams have a habit of raising our hopes, only to let everything slip away in the dying time. Secondly, they are playing against a FIFA favorite, meaning no matter what, they will unjustly create a way for them to progress to the next stage. So, until the final whistle, I wasn’t ready to celebrate.
