This 2-hour Stanford lecture breaks down how models like ChatGPT and Claude are actually built, clearer than what many people in top AI roles ever get exposed to. Save this and set aside two hours today. It might end up being the most valuable thing you learn all week.

MICHAEL presents an overly audience-friendly take on Michael Jackson’s life story (only up until the release of “Bad”) that will work for the masses and devoted fans eager to watch one of the world’s largest entertainers at the peak of his popularity “play the hits” and find the courage to stand up to his abusive father (portrayed with simmering tension in every scene by Colman Domingo) on the big screen. However, the direction by Antoine Fuqua is as straightforward as it gets for music biopics, playing things so safely that it offers nothing revelatory or even remotely compelling, unless that deeper exploration is being reserved for the supposed second film(?). Jaafar Jackson is undeniably impressive though, capturing his uncle’s mannerisms, stage presence, and vulnerability in a genuine breakout performance. And shoutout to Juliano Krue Valdi who excels as young Michael with only a fraction of the screen time. Ultimately, you’ve seen this film many, many times before.

@JosephKahn The value proposition of watching a movie in a theater is not there. Everything you've brought up are topics worth talking about, but they aren't why theaters are failing. And trying to force people to do something they already shown you they don't want to do won't help.

The studios decided they are tech companies. They chased after Netflix or more importantly, Netflix's stock valuation. They purposely blew up the theatrical window to promote their streaming apps. They knew they were sacrificing theatrical profit for streaming position and they had to do it very fast. Since covid, they have trained the audience to believe the thing they are selling, portions of time, should be a close to free experience. They tried to hook the audience on their streaming apps by pushing their biggest movies at unreasonably low subscription cost, which was just a drug dealer trying to hook a customer. It was at the expense of the artists who make these movies, who depend on distribution revenue. The product is only as valuable as the rarity of it. The studios are traditionally in the "distribution" business, controlling the windows of rarity and setting the value of access. What has happened is distribution is not the primary business now, subscription is. The studios are in the app business. They are no longer selling movies, they are selling apps. The movies are there to advertise the apps. The audience loves movies. They do value theatrical experience. It's a fundamental part of humans to share stories in a communal space. You're not killing concerts, or churches, sporting events, political rallies, bars, clubs, or movie theaters. But you can train an audience to devalue any of these things if you make them believe sitting alone at home is the best way to experience anything. That is what studios are telling everybody by cutting the theatrical window short as possible to get the app in your phone. If the studios reanalyze what they are, realizing the distribution is as important as the app, they would widen the windows. I think it's already happening by the way. They need a Hail Mary.
Joseph Kahn@JosephKahn

The solution to the theatrical problem is very simple. Extend the time before it goes to streaming. Make it 180 days. 6 months. If you don't watch it in theaters you won't get to see it for a long time. Studios have devalued their product by letting the consumer know there's no urgency. They're going to see it for "free" later. They've cheapened the business into a buffet and violated basic supply and demand.

@JosephKahn @RMBee The theater experience is not going back to the way it was. Except for the Big event movies like “Avengers”, “Avatar” etc and even those will start losing steam the more they pump out. The younger generation prefers to watch short form content and have it on demand.

@JosephKahn If the argument is that these companies want to be Netflix, WHERE IS THE SUBSCRIBER GROWTH ??? Same with WB. It was so mediocre that it was getting bought out. WHAT GIVES?

@JosephKahn @josephkahn I don't understand one thing From 2000 - 2019, when Disney was a traditional film/tv/entertainment creator, stock went from $15 to $150 With Disney Plus, short theatrical windows, and every other gimmick from 2019-2026, it has gone from 150 - 106. MAKE IT MAKE SENSE

@televisiondavid They can still do that but their agenda is to build streaming libraries fast to value their stock as tech companies rather than media, blowing up everything. Everyone wants to be valued like Netflix and will kill theatrical to do it.

🚨 RETAIL WAS RIGHT ALL ALONG... AND IT'S WORSE THAN ANYONE IMAGINED 💥 Wall Street told us $AMC short interest was just 24% of the float (124.1 million shares). Our models just exposed the truth: Official Short Interest: 124.1M (24%) Synthetic Short Interest: 1.58 BILLION (300%) TOTAL SHORT POSITION: 1.7 BILLION shares → 324% of the float 🔥 That's not "shorting." That's naked shorting on an industrial scale. Look at this insanity: 144.57 MILLION Fails-to-Deliver (137% of official short interest) 🤣 In order to get 144m FTDs you cant possible have only 124m short interest! the FTDs are MORE than the short interest! LOL We also published the HISTORICAL short volume! Nada! Yet, the utilization is at 57% which means they belive they can extract more! But how often are they wrong!? They will be caught pants down at some point! Synthetic signal screaming EXTREME; No Bona Fide! Synthetic short shares value sitting at $1.72 BILLION (that is the amount of money the stole at the current price!) While hedgies and MMs have been gaslighting retail for years, the data was hiding in plain sight. The official number is a joke. The real exposure is 13x higher. This is why the price refuses to reflect reality. This is why the float feels like it's made of smoke and mirrors. Retail wasn't crazy. Wall Street was criminal. We no longer need AMC MOASS, it will be gravy. Being in this low all some need for life changing wealth is $50, some $100, and hardly anyone really needs more than $200, but because our opponents screwed around so much, we may see numbers many times those with ease.

@Quote31490249 Don't worry. @RottenTomatoes will take good money under the table and bang out some rotten reviews to give it a 70% fresh rating. They've been doing it consistently - and Ted Sarandos of Netflix along with other streamers have been paying them handsomely.

The cost to go to the movies in America is out of control “In case you're wondering to take my 4 children to see The New Mario Movie, it's only $96 on a matinee” What’s even crazier is if you wanted to see this movie in a Dolby Cinema in California the cost would be: For your group (1 adult + 4 kids): Low end (smaller/suburban CA theater): $110–$125 total. Mid-range (most common in LA or Bay Area): $120–$140 total. Higher end (premium locations like Century City or busy malls): $140–$160+ total Just to go to a movie….

@Codester1389 You don't require religion to be a Godly person. The entire universe is in each one of us. Religion just leads us away from this realization, and introduces all kinds of beliefs which add zero value to humanity.

@Codester1389 While I respect you deeply, You're trying to reconcile the Eastern Wisdom of Kundalini Awakening, which is 10,000 years old, with Christianity Christ may have been influenced by sages in the east. He never properly understood them. Just discard all religion. It adds no value.

@UCopy417 @AMCTheatres Thoughts on Nicholas Pantano? He’s saying GME hits 31$ by July 4th and to buy September calls. He also doesn’t think GME or AMC are squeeze plays.

$AMC #AMC As I've speculated from my pinned post below, @AMCTheatres stock pop nearly +60% from the bottom. This confirmed that we are entering early #ShortSqueeze stage similar to 2021 early January and gave me clear estimate how much squeeze peak would be based on recent pop. I do believe we are running similar algo cycle and If it does, there would be possible pullback by April OPEX this Friday to fill gap at $1.27 and continue rally after that. *Not Financial Advice
