As we conclude #WomensMonth today, let’s together continue to advocate for a world where rights, justice and action for women and girls are non-negotiable. Let’s continue in our efforts to move from rights on paper to justice in practice, and continue to fight for a world where #Women and #Girls are part of all processes that drive sustainable development. #ForAllWomenAndGirls #IWD2026 #CSW70 #SDGs

Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) is more than tech, it’s a driver of equity, dignity & opportunity, especially for women and girls. 💡 Just like roads connect people to services, DPIs (digital IDs, interoperable payments & data systems) connect communities to justice, health, education & finance. In the remote border region of Timu Sub County in Kaabong District, lies Uganda’s first Community Police Post, a new structure that stands as more than just a building. It has become part of the development journey of the Ik Peoples of Uganda - representing hope, livelihood security, and a community determined to transform itself. Community security is a strategy that implements @UNDP’s people centred approach by engaging a wide range of state and civil society actors to identify the root causes of conflict and violence and to develop coordinated responses. UNDP’s people centred approach to community security supports the vision of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 16: promoting peaceful and inclusive societies, providing access to justice for all, and building effective, accountable, and inclusive institutions at all levels. Great exchange with Hon. @MosesMagogo and @OfficialFUFA on the growing role of sports in national development. 🇺🇬⚽️ Beyond bringing people together, sports can also be a driver of development by enhancing tourism, expansion of infrastructure, local economic development & jobs for the youth. #Sports4Development

Dr. Thangavel Palanivel Chief Strategy & Policy Unit and Senior Economic Advisor @UNDPUganda highlighted UNDP’s role in supporting the development of MPI methodologies, building capacity among government officials and stakeholders, and promoting the use of MPI data in designing effective and targeted policy responses. Reaffirming UNDP’s continued partnership, he noted that the organisation will sustain its support in areas such as human development analytics, poverty diagnostics, governance reforms, and climate-resilient livelihoods. This includes strengthening local-level planning capacities, enhancing social protection systems, promoting innovation and digital solutions for inclusive service delivery, and advancing policy dialogue grounded in robust evidence. He congratulated the Government of Uganda and all partners involved in producing the report, reiterating @UNDPUganda’s commitment to working collaboratively to translate data into meaningful action and lasting transformation. #UBOS #UgMPI2024 #DataForDevelopment #EvidenceBasedStatistics

Dr. Thangavel Palanivel Chief Strategy & Policy Unit and Senior Economic Advisor @UNDPUganda noted that as Uganda advances towards a modern, inclusive, and prosperous society, the Multi-Dimensional Poverty Index (MPI) Census Monograph 2024 – Volume 5 provides a critical tool for aligning national development priorities with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequality). He emphasized that the MPI is not merely a measurement tool, but a driver of human development that helps identify who is being left behind, where, and in what ways, while guiding more targeted, equitable, and responsive policy interventions and resource allocation. #UBOS #UgMPI2024 #DataForDevelopment #EvidenceBasedStatistics

The Multi-Dimensional Poverty Index Report was independently produced by @StatisticsUg, reflecting strengthened national capacity. 🇺🇬 This milestone builds on UNDP’s earlier support in training @StatisticsUg to develop Uganda’s first MPI in 2022. @UNDP remains committed to supporting the government in evidence based decision making processes. #SDG17

Access to clean and safe water is fundamental for all 💧- it touches every part of life, from what we drink to how we grow food, support health services, and keep livestock healthy 🐄, ultimately helping build lasting peace in communities ✨. In Karamoja 🇺🇬, @UNDP and @KoicaUganda, through the BRICK Project, have expanded access to safe, reliable water by installing solar-powered water supply systems ☀️💧- supporting both people and animals. Three piped water supply systems and six production wells have now been handed over to communities in Kaabong, Kotido, and Moroto 🙌💦.
