On my official visit to #Pakistan, I had fruitful discussions with @MIshaqDar50, Deputy Prime Minister & @ForeignOfficePk, Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, @EduMinistryPK, Aurangzeb Khan Khichi, @DivisionCulture, and Khalid Hussain Magsi, @MinistryofST on opportunities to deepen our cooperation, especially for girls’ education, heritage and culture. I spent time at the UNESCO #WorldHeritage site of #Taxila and at Islamabad Model School for Girls, at the frontline of @UNESCO’s work #ForThePeople. In Taxila, women archaeologists are revealing our shared past and keeping heritage alive, while traditional art and music, including the sound of the rubab, continue to connect generations. Over the past decade, the UNESCO @MalalaFund for girls education in Pakistan, with Educate A Child, Korean International Cooperation Agency, @aics_it, the @NorwayMFA, and Volvo Middle East, have enrolled +50 000 out-of-primary-school girls. This commitment is the most powerful driver for peace and development.

The Provincial Minister for Culture and Tourism @SyZulfiqarShah met with UNESCO Pakistan Office Head H.E @PashayevFu80978 to discuss the promotion of Sindh’s culture and tourism. The meeting focused on advancing joint projects, including new UNESCO heritage designations, and preserving Sindh’s historic legacy for global recognition. The Minister and the UNESCO representative agreed to enhance Sindh’s cultural identity and archaeological sites to boost global tourism and economic development through cultural investment. The Minister also emphasized the Sindh government’s commitment to protecting its heritage and introducing it to new generations with UNESCO’s support. Mr. Pashayev praised the government’s efforts and expressed enthusiasm for continued collaboration. Minister for Planning Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal on Friday emphasized the urgent need for a national charter to promote media literacy across Pakistan. Speaking at the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Media and Information Literacy (MIL) Framework Policy Dialogue held at the National Language Promotion Department, the minister highlighted the growing challenge of misinformation in the digital era.
