🚨 JUST IN: The reason GTA 6 has no disc at launch is because Rockstar is trying to prevent leaks and spoilers. A physical disc version is reportedly coming in December 2026. This actually makes sense. If discs ship early to retailers, the entire game gets leaked before anyone plays it. W Rockstar.

Also I stand by the 100 million mark for close to break even, depending on the contract with individual distributors 20%-70% of the fee goes to distributors. Sony and microsoft are likely on the low end but steam will be closer to the high end. Without going too in depth the cost of bandwith for downloads is high a typical large game like GTA V cost the distributor a lot for you to download if you download GTA V 10 times from steam they lost all the money they made from your purchase. When GTA V goes on sale take 2 only makes a few dollars per sale. 2 billion cost of production is only by using magical accounting which is a common practice placing major cost under different projects, labels, divisions. then you have marketing, license fees, and legal cost. for each copy sold the take for rockstar will be between 40-60 dollars. The desperation for success of this project by diehards who want everyone to have the same level of company worship as them is detrimental to the real concerns from the VAST MAJORITY of gamers who are posting about the game and passing on the pre- order. By the sentiment being expressed by "most" posters it will be a struggle to reach 20- 30 million copies sold by end of year. If this turns out to be true the game is undeniably a financial failure. When all is said and done you are looking at a near 5 billion dollar cost for this game. Due to anti consumer practices @RockstarGames and likely extreme DEI instead of making 5 billion in profit they will have to pray to break even in the current climate.

The 2 Billion is just the production cost. They have a decade of extra expenses and marketing additional fees research and salaries not included in production cost total yet direct expenses of the game production. $5 billion is the more accurate figure. The Movie industry likes to play with pretend numbers too when a film cost 100 million to make the actual cost is over 300 million. Know that the "official" cost of something is always a lie.
