This is retconning Minions lore. In the Minions movie it was revealed that between Napoleon's invasion of Russia in 1812 and 1968 the entire population of Minions were in a Siberian cave. This was a workaround so they didn't help Hitler, which is now back on the table

Take that away and he can't attack (without revealing he can blood bend)

@iamhenriiii @Axew22 Rewatch the scene my guy, Kuvira didn't get another attack in until *after* Korra went out of the avatar state on her own due to her ptsd.
Aang on the other hand stopped mid-fight to enter the avatar state and then got killed because the fight didn't stop for anybody eles

Aang was beaten when he was not fighting. Nobody mentioned "fairness", but moving like those situations are similar in the context of who "lost a fight" in the Avatar state is dishonest.
