@davidfatunmbi @SirJarus Don't let people who are actively choosing to live outside the confines of wisdom & its fruits to shirk off their mandate and foist it on you because you aren't using discernment. Many have ruined themselves because of this. Beware. E go shock you

@davidfatunmbi @SirJarus That means even the "poor" relative has the responsibility to take care of his own. So when they go about squandering opportunities, having a bunch of kids they barely take care of, THEY are denying their faith. Your wife and kids are your priority first

Yes, I saw the Mikel Obi video. I largely agree with him. It can really stretch someone. People also abuse it. There are cases of people getting lazy because they have well-to-do family member. Some come with frivilous demands. Some overrate your financial ability. Some get angry when you turn down one request and call you names, forgetting all you have done in the past. So hard to fault what Mikel said. But for small heads like us, we recognize we have religious obligation (& parental training) to try to cater to people around us within our little means - even sometimes at personal inconvenience. Maybe that is the extra push.

@SirJarus I’m patiently waiting for your take on people and their families asking them for money. Particularly the Mikel Obi’s case. Thank you

"If I was a billionaire,I will fund the lifestyle of anyone that bears my surname." We agree.Go & become a billionaire first & show us. Actual billionaires like Jay-Z are complaining yet fictional billionaires are playing eternal benefactors on money they don't have.Too funny.

Many Africans don't know the meaning of wealth. They think it is having more money than others or buying things to make you comfortable. No matter how much you hustle, you can NEVER be rich enough in an unjust country without the rule of law to protect your rights.

What pained me the most was when someone messaged me on the day of my accident in January this year to ask for money. I was still at the scene of the crash and had shared photos on twitter. The person first expressed sympathy and then proceeded to request money. God forbid!

The black tax that approaches me isn’t even from my family. It’s from people on twitter and Facebook. I know that the twitter people will see this tweet. And I hope it touches their hearts to leave me alone.

A friend's brother, 38, just sold his house in Nigeria for N32 million and moved to the UK with his wife and three children. All the N32m was spent in resettling all of them including getting a sponsored job. I ve worked it out for him. He won't be able to break even for another 10 years no matter how hard he works . This means he will not be able to save that whole £32000 he spent now until after 10 years. Now, the truth of the matter is at that time he will be 48 years and weaker and would have lost all his influence and connections in Nigeria. Those who have his type of property now will be valueing their properties more than N70 million in 10 years. With this I cannot conclude he made a wise choice. If he moved without selling the property, it would have been better... Not all Japa makes sense. Not all. Credit: Stephen Kosh.

The people you meet when you first immigrate to a new country can make or mar you. Make sure you have a mind of your own. Otherwise, you’d settle for things based on their own fears and limitations.

@TripleNetInvest Most family offices don't exist solely to allocate capital. Your friend's scope of responsibility as head of the FO will probably include managing family affairs and finances. A small price to pay for the owners really

A friend of mine manages a $100+ million family office He makes over $1,000,000 a year I asked him what they're invested in His response: "index funds, apple, meta, amazon, google, netflix, and berkshire hathaway" Imagine paying someone over $1,000,000 a year just to see him buy those stocks

In Africa, we have places that are fantastic to do business but horrible to live vs many places that excellent to live in but horrible to do business. Until we can strike the balance, we will keep struggling.
