ഇദ്ദേഹം ഇംഗ്ലീഷിലോ ഹിന്ദിയിലോ നല്ലൊരു പ്രാസംഗികനല്ല. അതെ സമയം കൊള്ളാവുന്ന സ്പീക്കറും മന്ത്രിയുമായിരുന്നു. മലയാളത്തിൽ തരക്കേടില്ലാത്ത പ്രാസംഗികനുമാണ്. ഇദ്ദേഹത്തെ മന്ത്രി സ്ഥാനത്ത് നിന്ന് നീക്കം ചെയ്തതോടെ മന്ത്രി സഭയിൽ ദളിത് പ്രതിനിധിയും ഇല്ലാതായി. ദളിതർ മന്ത്രി സ്ഥാനത്തിന് അര്ഹരല്ലേ? ഇദ്ദേഹത്തിന് അനുയോജ്യമായ തട്ടകം അസംബ്ലിയാണ് എന്ന കാര്യത്തിൽ സംശയം വേണ്ട.
മന്ത്രി സ്ഥാനത്ത് തന്നെ തുടർന്നിരുന്നെങ്കിൽ ഇപ്പോൾ മുഖ്യമന്ത്രി സ്ഥാനാർത്ഥിയായി അവതരിപ്പിച്ചു വീണ്ടും മത്സരിപ്പിക്കാമായിരുന്നു. എങ്കിൽ എൽ ഡി എഫിന്റെ പ്രകടനവും മെച്ചപ്പെടുത്താമായിരുന്നു. കേരളത്തിലെ ആദ്യത്തെ ദളിത് മുഖ്യമന്ത്രിക്ക് കളമൊരുക്കിയ നേതാവ് എന്നത് പിണറായിയുടെ തൊപ്പിയിലെ ഒരു തൂവലായേനെ.
എന്ത് പ്രയോജനം കണ്ടാവും ഇദ്ദേഹത്തെ ഡൽഹിയിലേക്ക് നാട് കടത്തിയത്?

A senior BJP leader from TN told me more than 2 years ago that they were simply unable to understand why their party High Command was adopting a soft approach to the DMK. Apparently, even evidence of corruption of State ministers obtained by State unit and sent to the high command was ignored.
