On 24th March, we wrote to the Chief Election Commissioner and the CEO, West Bengal, raising serious, documented objections against Surajit Royâs appointment as Returning Officer for Bhabanipur.
We clearly highlighted his close proximity to @SuvenduWB during his tenure as BDO, Nandigram-II Block; a clear conflict of interest that threatens the integrity of free and fair elections, especially since Suvendu Adhikari is contesting from the same Assembly Constituency.
@ECISVEEP acknowledged the gravity of the matter and directed the Chief Secretary to submit a panel of three alternative officers. The State Government promptly complied. Yet, no action has been taken.
Surajit Roy continues as Returning Officer of Bhabanipur. The ECI had every opportunity and every tool to ensure neutrality, but it deliberately chose to remain inactive. Today, our 4-member delegation once again visited the Office of @CEOWestBengal, to strongly reiterate our demand for immediate corrective action.

April 2026: West Bengal voters are fleeing again to vote (almost all) because of fearâfear of being eliminated from the voters list. That automatically means their citizenship is in danger.

Respect for democracy, respect for opponents â this is BJP's culture. BJP West Bengal Social Media Incharge Saptarshi Choudhury showed what true political courtesy means and clearly highlighted the difference between BJP and TMC. When Trinamool flags were found lying on the road, he respectfully picked them up and put them back in place. This gesture shows that for BJP, politics is about values and respect, not hatred.
