@UpdateWalleh Singapore is not the only example to emulate. There are others. Completely agree on need for all these types of reforms. But no surprise who will oppose most of these reforms: politicians and bureaucracy for obvious reasons and but also the govt-job seeking individuals.

The biggest distorter of labour market in India are government jobs which are wayy over market rates. Ample possibilities of rent seeking further make it lucrative for youth to forego years and years of their productive life for <1% chance of landing a govt job.

@UpdateWalleh Compare average salary of a private school teacher with that of a public school teacher. You’ll get your answer. Add to that the risk of losing your job for non-performance in a private setting. Not so much in public schools. The upshot of govt job is just too much.

The US & the world have finally seen with own eyes that world is no longer unipolar with US as the sole military power.
