The reason college campuses are so quiet now after 1.5 years of protesting the genocide in Gaza is because the entirety of Congress, Republican and Democrat led states and the democratic president condemned those protesters, had them deported, expelled, had teachers fired.

You laughed at land acknowledgments and made the safe, politically acceptable critique of them ("they are dumb because they are empty signaling") without realizing that a Canadian court was about to hand over Vancouver to a tribe.
Your pseudo-knowing gambit was just bait for someone to take the land acknowledgment at face value -- which the courts were about to do, and which was the whole point of propagating the land acknowledgment in the first place.

I have been thinking about this picture a lot.
When I was sitting in my apartment in NYC in 2001, watching the second tower get hit, frantically talking to my boss and calling my friends who worked there, if someone had told me that one day an ISIS-lover would be running this city, I would have laughed in their face.
