This is exactly what drives me nuts about ‘fans’ today. They have no media literacy. Seven Havens looks NOTHING like Ghibli—Not in character, color, background, or creature design. They’re each their own beautifully crafted things.

I've seen a lot of people shit on the new Avatar series and I'm honestly so sad about it. I feel like a lot of people nowadays is not happy with anything, especially regarding animation and it saddens me.

If they didn’t think they could do it right, the original creators wouldn’t have done it at all.
And, by the way, series are allowed to change art styles after 14 years! Ffs

Here's what I think happened
Paramount didn't give them as big of a budget as previous series. They probably assumed it would be more difficult to get new seasons as well. So, they changed the art/animation style for something cheaper in order to be able to pump out 26 episodes

Guys, the animation took a nose dive for Seven Havens. If you think this looks acceptable i don't know what to tell you. Korra for all it's flaws (many) was a FAR MORE ambitious looking production than this. This looks like something Netflix would dump on their platform.

It makes me insane to see animation fans or whoever refer to 2d footage as having a "low frame rate." What you are trying to say is there aren't enough inbetweens for your liking. It's a stylistic choice, not a technical failing. Not everything is a gd video gammmmmme

Forget debating if Warabbit should’ve been cut for Mudkip… Turtwig should’ve been cut for this Bat line!

@ArtofSpongeBob2 There is a clear and purposeful difference between Havens’ visual design and the other two series, but it’s far too early to make any comment about its animation quality. Especially considering some of the great shots in the trailer. That double character turn looks solid, btw.

As more and more beloved shows are brought back, more and more people will realize that TV animation has taken a huge hit in quality in the last few years. You just didn't realize because it wasn't YOUR show that had started to look worse yet.

@sharintaint @t_kobs I respect your opinion, but I disagree. Avatar has never shied away from complex subject matter, regardless of the ages of its protagonists. And it certainly seems like Seven Havens follows in that vein, despite Pavi’s age.
I actually think this will have a huge audience.

@UrPokePal @t_kobs Look at Seven Havens dude. How much of an audience do you expect for this thing? The audience for ATLA has aged with it, going back to a little girl means you're basically starting from scratch. This isn't building on the success of ATLA or (lesser success) Korra, its gonna bomb.

I was bitter and confused when my team was laid off, but they’re making it clear they have no intentions of trying to make Nickelodeon succeed. The movie pulled from theaters? all 26 episodes at once of this? Just sending Avatar to the graveyard so it can be a tax write off…

I misspoke, yesterday, using the word/phrase ‘court/the courts’ when referencing the rejected Pokémon patent.
However this matter was not an issue for the courts, rather a simple rejection from the patent office itself.

Nintendo has gotten a patent rejected in Japan due to the mechanic they were trying to patent being already used in a Pokémon fangame from 2013.
While this may seem like a great outcome, this may lead to them starting a major crackdown on Pokémon fangames so that this doesn’t happen again.

But it sets a strange and worrying precedent when illegal work is utilized in the courts in this manner.
And it’s odd it happened in Japan, which has incredibly strict copyright protections.

But they are also technically illegal, as they violate copyright, trademark, and IP laws.
The fact that it was referenced in a court case at all, let alone used as evidence against the very franchise it was ripping off, is crazy.

But, at the end of the day, when you make a fan game, you’re utilizing IP that is not yours. This should have disqualified it as an example of prior art where any Pokemon games are concerned.

I want their original artwork protected in law the same as I want any small artist’s original artwork protected. IP, copyright, and trademark matter.

If roles were reversed, and the fan game was trying to patent something, the case would most likely be tossed for infringing on IP.

@CentroLeaks I know it’s a very unpopular opinion, but I think people should take the time, energy, and obvious talents they use in creating fan work to create their own unique games, art, and concepts.
