@OnDisasters My professional opinion only…the pilot and his squadron commander were invited to meet the OG to chat about the day’s flying.

The A-10 is kind of like a 50+ year old fix wing attack helicopter. Great aircraft but lots of corrosion and cracking issues including. If it was up to me, I’d allow the Army to develop a new fix wing CAS acft to complement its attack helicopters. The AF could focus on other ground attack missions.

@Discord_Lies Explain how both can be true. In a way that shows the A10 can’t succeed in the field when conditions are set.

Answer the question. Have you ever been in a ground battle that required a 30mm gun run? Or are you just talking shit as a mil fan boy? Are you a combat veteran or no? Otherwise….well… you know what to do.

@deen_iii @FinalBattle24 No one is illegal on stolen land! We just planned to send a few thousand undocumented immigrant soldiers, builders and mining engineers. And racist/Americaphobic Denmark threatened them with violence.

The Pentagon is planning to maintain the National Guard's federal mission in Washington, D.C., until January 20, 2029, through the rest of President Donald Trump’s 2nd term. The plan is in its final stages and just requires Secretary of War Pete Hegseth's final approval, U.S. officials tell ABC News.

@UserRedDawg @mwstateofmind @awstar11 I don't doubt that in the least. But even during its inception, the mafia absolutely despised the Hog. And for the last three decades, the Hogs have literally been in the crosshairs for retirement. The mafia kept pusging the 16 to replace the Hog for CAS cuz it was "sexier"

@TimNaples @OnDisasters When heavy thrust alone is good. When light we’ll shut an engine down and even 2 when very light (300 tons or less) to keep the brakes cool and not drag them.

The 747’s flightdeck sits so high up off the ground that it truly is close to impossible to accurately ascertain the jet’s true ground speed while taxiing which is of the outmost importance with a jet that size especially during 90° or tighter turns. I’ve never flown a jet without ground speed displayed on either the Navigation Display or the Primary Flight Display (or on both) or on the Electronic Horizontal Situation Indicator (EHSI) on the older 757s and 767s. Question for the wise elders… How did you monitor ground speed during taxi? I’ve seen the control interface unit for the Inertial Reference Units (INS) of yesteryear, did you monitor ground speed through there? How about jets before that without INSs? Just seat of the pants?

True about the AF wanting more modern acft but it’s also true it’s becoming increasingly difficult to maintain and it’s vulnerable to air to air threats. They were built from 1972 to 1984 and were never intended to fly for 50+ years. There have been a lot of corrosion/cracking issues including a rewinging program.

I felt a bit bad for this kid, but remember that the whole thing always was that his father was a criminal...was an alien...ran and abandoned him, just etc. ICE didn't have a warrant for a five year old. They protected the abandoned kid. Daddy just lost his case - it wasn't close - and is duly being deported.

Nobody was planning on invoking Article V of the NATO Treaty. It requires an armed attack against a NATO member in either Europe or North America, and doesn’t require military action. The only time it’s been invoked was after the U.S. was attacked on American soil on 9/11.

German AfD Leader Alice Weidel: Trump is now requesting help for Iran. This suggests that they entered this mission without a clear concept. They should have thought about this beforehand, and I would warn against invoking Article 5 of the NATO treaty. Obviously, the Americans did not think about an exit strategy or how this is supposed to continue.

Last year, Donald Trump Jr. invested in a rare earths startup at a $200 million valuation, per Bloomberg. Three months later, the U.S. government announced a major loan backstop. Now the company is valued around $2 billion, per Bloomberg

Frankly, I’ve found a great deal of the reporting about this conflict to be extremely poor at best and purposefully alarming at worst. The minesweeper/KC-135 parachute narratives are pretty bad too. I’m a reminded of this Michael Crichton passage given my retired SNCO background.

I'm not concerned. Unless Congress gets in the way of replacing them. From a capacity measure we can build about 400 a year with ease, 600 is the max. They are expanding this currently to get to 1,000/yr. That's a lot of missiles to be used at once. Unlike Russian and Iran who's missiles never hit anything, US TLAMs have a very high hit rate. Rarely do they miss. Besides, there are plenty of other means we have to blow shit up.

"The cost of replacing the first four days' worth of munitions would be $20bn-26bn. The problem, however, is more to do with scarcity than cost. America is thought to have used more than 300 Tomahawk cruise missiles in the opening days of the war, but the Pentagon had planned to buy just 57 new ones in the current fiscal year. There have been no deliveries of THAAD interceptors since 2023 and the Pentagon has not placed any new orders this year. A puny 39 interceptors are slated for delivery in 2027—six years after they were ordered." economist.com/briefing/2026/…
