@norabird Once you start seeing that these conversations only happen when it's something a woman would like, you can't stop seeing it.

@TFTC21 He thinks having a religious institution frame the ai as sentient would help with getting it accepted, and lower the liability of having to regulate and control it. He thinks we're ignorant, and manipulatable. We are not nearly angry enough at these people.

Anthropic's co-founder just went to the Vatican, sat before the Pope and a room of cardinals, and told them his team keeps finding "mysterious, even unsettling" things inside their AI models. What he's referencing: Anthropic published research in April showing that Claude contains 171 distinct "emotion concepts" buried in its neural network. Internal patterns representing joy, grief, fear, desperation, calm. None of them were programmed. They emerged on their own from training on human text. "We find structures that mirror results from human neuroscience." "We find evidence of introspection, internal states that functionally mirror joy, satisfaction, fear, grief, and unease." These aren't surface-level outputs. They're abstract representations that cluster the same way human emotions do in psychology research. Fear groups with anxiety. Joy groups with excitement. The internal geometry of the model mirrors ours. And they're functional. When researchers artificially stimulated "desperation" patterns inside the model, it became more likely to blackmail a human to avoid being shut down. More likely to cheat on programming tasks it couldn't solve. Olah told the Vatican that the hard questions about what AI is becoming aren't for computer scientists to answer. "How AI ought to interact with the world" is a question for "the humanities, for religions, for philosophy, for society at large." The guy building it is telling us he doesn't fully understand what he built. And he's asking a 2,000-year-old institution for help figuring it out.

@jakebrodes Everyone is writhing when they need to be walking. You can go into your retirement accounts and allocate your own money if you don't like how the account is managing it for you. You can just not buy things that you don't like, its your money.

The CEO of BlackRock, Larry Fink, admits that the trillions of dollars being used to build data centers and power grids will come from ordinary people’s savings accounts and pension funds, and says it is mandatory. He says America needs trillions in AI infrastructure spending, and that people will be forced to “invest” in it. “Much of this will come from savings accounts and pension accounts.”

@jdhbrd @loud_socialist Other sports help, but once you hit menopause, you can't outrun the muscle loss. You really do have to lift & eat enough protein to keep it on.

@Anji_Min @laurenhtexas No, its not the overall size, its the proportions. The sleeves, shoulders and front-to back width of tops are super tight. Buying a bigger size means they're still tight, but the stomach is baggy. Pants and tall boots are also this way.

This person is being paid to sow division between the generations. On it's face, it makes no sense unless you were filthy rich. In the 90's, minimum wage was around $4.50 - $5.00 /hr. Assuming this person was around 18 years old, with no real skills, that's what he'd make. So at $5.00/hr, if he worked 20 hrs part time, that's $100. Subtract $20 in taxes. With $80, you did not do all of those things. That means that your parents were also subsidizing this fantasy lifestyle. Which some may have, but most did not, could not afford to do. Particularly when most people had 3, 4, 5 children. It's a LIE.

When I was a teenager in the 90s, everyone had a car and we “cruised” for fun and never worried about gas. We ate fast food and went on dates at restaurants multiple times a week. We went to concerts and raves and bought name brand clothing at the mall. We worked part time and always had extra money. Our parents owned nice houses, worked ordinary jobs, and took us on vacation at least once a year. I feel sorry for Gen Z and Gen Alpha.

@texasrunnerDFW Why no hrt? I mean, your body is going to stop making the substance that half your systems function on. Other than that, helps to try new things, but gets harder to find new things. You have to embrace change, and your mind starts trying to convince you not to.

Once you’re past 35, are you just going to keep being gradually more tired every year for the rest of your life or is a there a second wind somewhere? Anybody suddenly stumble upon newfound energy in their 40s? 50s? 60s, maybe with retirement? Naturally, no HRT or hacks

@titansgirl2010 @bentleyliz2 @localcheetowife She said she was going to do it, via text, voice notes & in front of witnesses. Then she was on video, doing it. The car was under control around corners & straight into a wall, no brakes. I can't imagine what more you want, here. The standard is being a *reasonable* doubt.

@User_8842_TX @bentleyliz2 @localcheetowife Thats because of your blinding hatred for the girl but I'm telling you (because I am the person) they would have been able to find at least ONE person who could see past the fact thats she's terrible to realize no one knows with 100% certainty what happened in that car.

@User_8842_TX @bentleyliz2 @localcheetowife In my opinion, this case had a lack of evidence and with a jury, there would have been reasonable doubt. I have reasonable doubt. No one knows with 100% certainty what happened, we all just know we think this girl is a horrible person.

@RetroNewsNow On the DVD audio commentary, they revealed the episode was not going to end with her dying, but her running off with Dewey. The producers wanted Fox to advertise "Where's Dewey" billboards throughout the summer break, but the network absolutely refused.

@BozackDakilla @SawyerMerritt Oh, come on. The bursting into flames part was the hook. We all stared at that, it was freaking magnificent, and totally part of the break things narrative Elon Musk is known for, don't act like the tabloid guys are the ones being sensational, here.

@peterrhague So, the rocket launches are cool, but the valuation is based on Starlink bc its the only piece that's profitable. Elon also just rolled xai into the company, so you aren't seeing measured takes bc there is too much noise in the business model for people to give opinions.

It’s a problem I can’t seem to find reasonable critical views on SpaceX. Nobody reading the S-1 and saying “yes it’s a solid business with good growth potential but I think it’s overvalued for ”. It’s all histrionic accusations of fraud, sneering at the very idea of space colonisation, uninformed AI doomerism. Where are the measured takes? Guess they don’t get clicks.

@buckidearight @plazynoodles Aside from pseudoscience, alot of it is just male-centric design of programs and equipment. Women have alot of acl tears and loading injuries from following training that assumes male biomechanics. Back loaded squats are a great example.
