JUST IN: 🇸🇻 El Salvador buys $50,000,000 worth of Gold.

It just seems implausible this is what we are made of, essentially, nanotechnology about a billion years beyond anything we can design or make ourselves.

it's so over a new meta-analysis on microplastics in food looked at ~200 studies, the first comprehensive look at ALL major food categories and found that fruits, vegetables, and grains are responsible for ~99.5% of your daily microplastic intake. not seafood everyone assumed shellfish was the main source because they accumulate high concentrations per gram. but you eat maybe 2.5 kg of mollusks per year. you eat 147 kg of fruits and vegetables. median daily intake is 721 particles/kg body weight. for a 70kg adult that's ~50,000 particles every single day. previous estimates were 107-883 particles/day. that's 50-500x higher than we thought. because nobody was measuring the foods you actually eat. it's so much worse than i thought man
