@arcaneblink @TomatoeChan My Animation Professor did Photo realism portraits where he TRACED his subject. He is a highly revered artist in the PROFESSIONAL, not chronicly online, artist community. You merely have a superiority complex that leads you to think you can treat other artist as lesser.

@UtauMau @TomatoeChan it's not your original work if you're literally tracing a photograph, and professionals don't sell portraits, they may trace aspects of poses, but selling your work as your own when it's traced is misleading and can be theft if the photo is copyrighted

@arcaneblink @TomatoeChan I'm specifically talking about tracing images of irl people. If someone does that its still their art, there is nothing wrong with that... A lot of people do it for poses all of the time and not just for learning. A lot of professionals themselves do this in a lot of fields.

@UtauMau @TomatoeChan correct, there is nothing wrong with tracing things for fun or to learn, however pretending that its your original work is wrong. and tracing ai art for commissions is even more wrong for reasons i should not have to explain.

@arcaneblink @TomatoeChan As a professional artist you would be aware there is nothing wrong with tracing a real photo of a person. Its a common thing that is done, especially for photo realism based art. Its a tool and really shouldn't be used as means to put other artists down.

@kiracrowe_ I reached out to the person who did it and they told me their Dad found out she was gifting so much. Recommended maybe they don't do that cause it hurts others lively hoods 😭 they still gift to people I know. Afaik, it can only be done if they paid using apple pay.

This should not be a thing and the viewer that has done this is doing it to other people please fix this because some of us actually rely on this, especially raising stuff for fundraisers. @blossumVT When ever I get a base I make my own example using it so its accurate to my style and I credit the base artist on the listing and final art ^^ If there's something I dont do in my style on it I put that info down too! (Its almost always the backgrounds lol)

Idk if this is a popular opinion
But I think VGEN artists should be more obvious if the YCH base they are using is not made by them. Specifically for art whole illustrations. It feels a bit deceptive when you get your illustration back and the hair etc is shaded so different..
